Short Cut Strawberry Short Cakes

"I love to cook but hate things that take too long, especially desserts. So I came up with this great dessert idea. Fresh strawberries and a buttery pound cake really make this pop."

  1. Mix the strawberries in a bowl with confectioners' sugar and lemon juice; allow to stand about 15 minutes to form juice. Stir several times.
  2. Place a slice of pound cake onto a dessert plate, and spoon about 1/3 cup of strawberries and juice over the cake. Place a dollop of whipped topping on the berries, and top with another cake slice. Spoon another tablespoon or so of strawberries over the top to serve.

Folks, everyone has frozen waffles in the freezer, so when I want strawberry short cake, bam I toast a waffle, slater on the berries n cream.

Pound Cake is a a little calorie dense. I prefer store bought Angle Food cake for a lighter dessert. Whichever one you use, toasting it boosts the flavor BIG time.

Folks, everyone has frozen waffles in the freezer, so when I want strawberry short cake, bam I toast a waffle, slater on the berries n cream.

I prefer to leave out the sugar all together as the fresh strawberries are sweet enough, and I use real whipped cream versus that frozen "creme" from the freezer.
