Rated as 3.64 out of 5 Stars

"These are great served hot with salsa or pizza sauce. They take a little effort but are worth it!! The coating is made with finely crushed cornflakes cereal, lightly spiced. "

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking pan lined with foil.
  2. In a large, shallow bowl, crush the corn cereal to 1 cup. Mix together the corn cereal, oregano and garlic salt.
  3. Place the flour in a small bowl.
  4. In another small bowl, thoroughly beat the egg whites and water.
  5. Cut the mozzarella cheese into 12 sticks approximately 2 3/4 inches in length. Dip the cheese sticks in the flour, then the egg mixture, then the cereal mixture. Repeat dipping in the egg and cereal mixture to ensure a complete coating. Arrange cheese sticks on the baking pan. Allow the sticks to set for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven about 8 minutes until cheese is soft and sticks are lightly browned.

tryed making sure that cheese was covered by egg and crumbs but still the cheese melted and was quite a mess

These were all right. Nice change from the usual fried stuff, but these were not real easy to coat, I've noticed - the egg and flour mixture didn't make the breading stick too well - I think th...

The cheese was over melted and the bread crumbs did not stick. Will try these again. Maybe it wasn't beginners luck. But will try them again!

I tried this recipe because it called for corn flakes instead of bread crumbs, since I didn't have any at the time. I threw the corn flakes, oregano and garlic salt in the food processor and bl...

Lynda- I used this recipe, and I made sure that the coating was COMPLETELY cover at least twice! The cheese STILL leaked out, I don't really care for your recipe.
