  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted margarine and 1 egg. Mix until smooth, then spread evenly into the prepared pan. In a separate bowl, cream together the confectioners' sugar, 2 eggs and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Stir in the lemon cake mix, until well blended. Spread evenly over the first layer. Sprinkle with pecans.
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until a knife inserted into the center, comes out clean. Cool and cut into bars.

I rated this in the middle, but after my revisions, it would be 5 *'s. Use only 1 cup confectioner's sugar, use butter instead of margarine, add a second stick of melted butter to the lemon mix...

I also used butter instead of margarine - and I used less powdered sugar. I was searching for this recipe because we used to make it all the time but I couldn't find mine and I couldn't remember...

This was my first attempt at making lemon bars and these were excellent, made exactly as recipe suggested and they were easy to make and turned out great! They disappeared at our school carniva...

I added a teaspoon of lemon extract to the lemon cake mix. Everyone loved it

Really tasty. I also used butter because that is what I had in the freezer. These were very quick to make. Next time, I think sme lemon zest with the lemon cake mix would be good as well as red...
