Ingredients

  • 1 sheet Pepperidge Farm® Puff Pastry Sheets, thawed

  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard

  • 1 pound fresh asparagus

  • 2 ounces prosciutto, cut into thin strips

  • 1 cup shredded fontina cheese

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme leaves

  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze or homemade balsamic reduction, or to taste (Optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Unfold thawed pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and roll into a 10x14-inch rectangle.

  3. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and brush with Dijon mustard. Fold in the edges of the rectangle about 1/4-inch and crimp with a fork to seal.

  4. Arrange asparagus on the pastry in a single layer. Sprinkle with prosciutto, fontina cheese, and thyme.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven until pastry is golden and asparagus is tender, about 20 minutes.

  6. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and cut into 16 pieces.

Cook's Note:

Thaw pastry sheet at room temperature for 40 minutes or until it's easy to handle.

Editor's Note:

In our baking series "Bake No Mistake," our host Liz explains that par-baking the puff pastry ensures the pastry can fully puff and crisp before adding the toppings. After Step 3, she docked the pastry with a fork, and par-baked it in the preheated 400 degree F (200 degree C) oven for 10 minutes. Once the crust was cooled, she followed Steps 4 to 7 as directed above.
