Sour Cream Waffles

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  2. Separately, beat egg yolks with sour cream and melted butter. In another bowl, beat whites until stiff peaks form.
  3. Stir sour cream mixture into flour mixture just until all ingredients are moistened, then stir in egg whites.
  4. Spoon onto a hot, prepared waffle iron and bake until golden brown. Serve topped with a dollop of sour cream and fresh fruit, hot applesauce or with butter and maple or fruit syrup.

These were a little difficult. The sour cream made the batter a little thick which made the whipped egg whites hard to encorporate without overmixing. If I'd let the sour cream sit out for a hal...

My husband said these were the best waffles he has ever had. I didn't have white sugar so I substituted dark brown, they were excellent!!!

New to cooking, but the batter was so thick it was like glue. The egg whites helped. Was good but a little too hard and solid of a waffle to us.
