Green Bean Supreme

  1. Steam beans over a pot of boiling water until tender but still firm. Rinse under cold water to cool.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and saute onions. Add salt, soy sauce, hot pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce and mushroom soup; mix well.
  4. In a small casserole dish, layer half the beans, chestnuts, cheese and soup mixture. Repeat layer.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Top with onions and heat 10 minutes longer.

Very good, very rich - used less cheese (no way I was using 3 cups), more beans, less salt. Will make again. BTW - not runny at all.

I definately suggest doubling the green beans in this recipe or you have a mushroom soup with green beans instead of the other way around! I found it really salty as well, so I'll probably make ...

This dish is spicier than the traditional recipe, and tastes great.

Loved it! I omitted the pepper sauce because of my kids, and used cheddar flavored French-fried onions. It was amazing!
