  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In heavy saucepan, over low heat, melt all but 2 tablespoons chocolate chips.

  • Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, eggs, water, orange peel (optional) and melted chocolate chips. Stir bread into chocolate mixture and let stand 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Spoon bread mixture into lightly buttered 13x9-inch baking dish. Dot top with butter.

  • Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and sprinkle with reserved chocolate chips.

  • Serve warm with Caramel Sauce (optional). Store leftovers covered in refrigerator.

Caramel Sauce

Combine 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup whipping cream and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Bring to a boil; simmer 3 to 4 minutes. Serve warm over chocolate bread pudding.

Way to much chocolate!! The first try was exactly as directed and had to be thrown out. The second try was with half white chocolate chips and half chocolate chips. Much better!! Read More

I changed it up a bit so instead of chocolate it was just regular bread pudding, I omitted the choc. chips and the orange peel and did the rest as stated, I also added raisins and sprinkled cinnamon on it before baking. Very good and easy. Love how it held together well, making it more like bars. I did NOT make the caramel sauce it would have been overkill of sweetness IMO. Read More
