This is a great recipe!!! I have made a huge batch and taken them into the office and they were gone in seconds! I have made the recipe as is; and another time with 1/2 tsp. vanilla added; and the next I added 1/2 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Everytime they were great! Thanks!Read More
Overall, these had a great taste, but I found them to be too greasy, for lack of a better word. There were small pools of melted butter at the bottom of each muffin cup when I removed them from the pan. I agree with the other reviewer who said that the wet ingredients did not mix together well. I would suggest beating the butter and sugar together first, then adding the bananas. Also, the crumb topping was too moist and not crumbly enough. That said, I *will* make these again, but I will cut back on the butter, maybe replacing some of it with applesauce, and I will leave off the crumb topping.Read More

I made this as a gift for someone else so I didn't try these muffins myself nor did I switch to Splenda or cut out the sugar all together to suit my family's new lifestyle. I used whole wheat flour and cut the sugar down to a 1/4 cup. This recipe made ten muffins, using my 1/3 c. measuring cup to make even muffins. There seemed to be a ton of topping, I could have gotten away with using half of what the recipe called for. They baked up nicely and smelled really good. I'll update my review once I hear how my friend liked them. EDITED: Her and her son loved them! YAY!
The muffins ROCK! Moist, extremely good served right out of oven. Everyone's right they don't last long! My family didn't even wait till they cooled down. My 5 and 1 year old loved them. Thanks for an awesome recipe.
These muffins were very moist and full of flavor, my family really enjoyed them. I think next time I will substitute 1/2 the butter with applesauce and see how they turn out.
Wow! These are fabulous muffins that taste just like banana bread with a delicious crumb topping! I did add 1 tsp. of vanilla and 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon along with 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts to get even more of that "banana bread" taste. I baked these in a Texas sized muffin tin and got 6 huge muffins. I baked them at 400 for 30 minutes. They smelled wonderful and tasted even better - thanks for a great recipe!
These muffins were awesome and so easy to prepare. I added some chopped walnuts to the mixture before I topped with the crumbs!! My family loved these, they will become a favorite.
This is an excellent recipe. I followed the recipe exactly and I thought the muffins were great. I think the yield for the recipe is for smaller muffins and I prefer baking larger ones. It came out with 10 large muffins. I think the next time I use the recipe I will change the serving yield from 12 to 14.
This is a great and easy recipe! I usually make banana bread with my older bananas and I recently stumbled upon this recipe...it was a HUGE hit and it's saved right next to my banana bread recipe now!
These muffins are amazing! We only had one banana, so we substituted an apple, which we warmed up in the microwave first to make it soft. They were so good, we had to leave the room so we didn't eat them all in one sitting! Just a note, we thought there wasn't enough topping because each pre-baked muffin had just a few crumbles, but it spread out a lot during cooking and we even had some overflow. Excellent!
Wonderful, moist muffins! My four yr old son raved about them, and even my picky meat & taters hubby liked them. I think I try another reviewer's suggestion next time and add chocolate chips.
Very good. I did add cinnamon to the muffins and to the topping.
I've been making these muffins for years and my 9 yr olds love them.
These muffins are great! They came out moist and flavorful and the topping was great. Might add walnuts and or oats to the topping next time for more texture.
What delicious and moist muffins! My kids who don't like bananas still didn't like these, but that means all the more for dad and me!!
I made this for an office breakfast party-- they were amazing! I used ripe bananas I had in the freezer. Moist and delicious-- this recipe is definitely a keeper!!!
Hubby and son enjoyed these muffins. Great base muffin- can't wait to experiment with the recipe. Thanks!
The BEST! No changes made exactly as written. Perfect muffin! Thanks!
These are SO good. My favorite recipe!
These muffins are wonderfu as is; no need to add anything to the recipe! They are so moist, flavorful, and light. We loved them. I made 12 muffins with the recipe.

Fantastic recipe. Moist muffin with a delicious topping. We have a convect oven so I cooked at 350 for 18 minutes and they came out perfect, the kids loved them!
I have tried a few banana muffin receipes but found this one to be the most adaptable and muffins are great. I used less oil and cut down the sugar and the muffins were still very good. I highly recommend them and I am slow to write reviews so I rate this receipe 5 stars.
Omigosh are these good! I'm not much of a baker, but these turned out really well. I used self rising flour because that's what I had and they turned out great. I can see how you could add nuts or chocolate chips but they don't NEED them. They're fantastic on their own. Soooo good!
moist, light and moorish, the best banana recipe i have come across
As soon as I saw these muffins, I knew they would be heaven. So I decided to make some! I didn't have any muffin tins, so I made it like a small cake. I don't think that it matters if they are muffins or cakes. All I want to know is if they are delicious. And they are!!!
when i pulled them out of the oven, the muffins looked so pretty. but the texture was slightly funny, like it was too moist. personally it was fine but my family didn't like it.
Awesome recipe! Very moist! I added chocolate chips..really, really good!
These muffins are my go to for group get togethers. They always impress!
These are a family favorite. Very good recipe
These were super easy, I let my 4 1/2 year old put them together while I held a baby! They came out delicious, the crunchy topping is the best. I did add a little vanilla and some chopped pecans to the topping and mix. Next time I'll try mini muffins with this recipe!
The first time I made this, I didn't have enough bananas, so I substituted sweet potatoes. RAVE REVIEWS! I make it without the crumble on top, but I'm sure that it's divine. All of my friends absolutely love it when I make these muffins.
What a treat! Very, very good. I didn't change a thing. It was moist and delicious! Everyone loved them.
I substituted applesauce for the butter in the muffin mix. (I find not only it reduces fat, but also makes it more moist.) I also added a tsp of vanilla. I found this recipe delicious! However, next time I will forgo the crumb topping, it'll be just as good without it, less fat and it's already sweet enough. Thanks for the recipe!
Finally, the banana muffin recipe I have waited for. Easy to make, delicious. I added a few walnut bits to batter, and a few more into the crumbs.
I made this exactly as written and it was good, but not the WOW factor I was hoping for. The muffins were very moist and it was a good recipe to use up the ripe bananas we had.
Finally a moist banana muffin!! These are just the recipe that I was looking for. I am catering a bridal shower brunch and needed a good recipe. The ones I've made in the past have always turned out dry or crumbly or just not the way I hoped. But I will search no more! I may spruce up the recipe another time if I am feeling creative, but making it as the recipe is, is just perfect!! Thank you so much!! You have no idea how excited I am to have finally found the perfect banana muffin recipe! You rock!
I am rating the crumb topping. I make the topping on the, "Banana Nut Muffins", by Mom. The topping is so easy and delicious!
Delicious! We only had two small/medium bananas in our fridge so I added some pecans and rainsins. YUM!!
These muffins were AWESOME! My kids devoured them .. a perfect, quick, easy rainy day treat!!!
Absolutely deee-licious Saturday's batch flew so fast, I had to make more on Sunday. This recipe is a keeper!
A perfect 10! So moist and delicious, one of the best things I ever ate, and easy and quick to make.
These are delicious muffins and the recipe is perfect as is! They also freeze beautifully - just pop into the micro for 25 seconds and done! My family can't get enough of them.
super amazing and simple!!! made a double batch... did half w/ topping.. other half w/ choc. chips. Kids love both!! YUUUMMMM :)
Super moist! I added a 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips and my 4 yr old and 1 & 1/2 year old LOVE them!
Oh my....these were really good. The topping is a must. Will make again and again.
Excellent muffins!! Easy and quick to make - my family loved them!!!!
Kids loved them....smelled wonderful while baking. A nice treat with the crumb topping. Didn't change a thing. Thanks!
Great recipe, I added a half tsp of vanilla.
A fabulous recipe. I made it as written and it was just sinful! The second time I made it I was short on butter but had an extra banana on hand so I substituted coconut oil and used a 1/4c less sugar. The results were equally delish! Thanks so much Wendy!
I'm not a big banana fan,so everytime I have ripe bananas I make banana bread. Wanted something different so I tried this recipe.Holy cow, they are awesome! No more banana bread for me! Light, delicious, packed with banana flavor! Update: as someone stated..these are best eaten the same day. The topping gets very soggy after they sit.
Excellent Recipe! Very moist, and the cinnamon topping is great.
Absolutely DELICIOUS as is. The topping is what sets these muffins apart. I've made banana muffins using many recipes, but this is my all time favorite hands down.
Great recipe -- I was short one banana so added some half and half so the dough wasn't too dry. Turned out perfectly -- the topping was crunchy and delicious.
Simply fabulous! So much better than making boring banana bread!
I need to rate this even though I didn't make the bread itself. I used the streussal topping and directions to put on a different muffin and it made all the difference in the world! Very delicious and fantastic directions!
Best banana muffins! Moist, but not too dense, and oh that topping! I added a little vanilla and cinnimon to the batter, and used half brown sugar instead of all white. These look great and taste better.
MY HUSBAND love the muffin but when i put brown sugar ,butter, flour mix it together put topping on the muffins it just melted did not look crumb on top of the muffin
Awesome. I used Splenda instead of sugar. I added some blueberries and Epicur Apple Pie Spice. Very moist. Next time I would add couple tablespoons of flax seed. signed Chevy
These muffins have good taste, but they look very funny. They didn't rise like regular muffins. they stayed flat on top, maybe that was my fault. But, I did follow the recipe perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Love these muffins! So moist made just as the recipe states. My daughter just asked me for another one. Won't disappoint!
These muffins were dee-lish! I try to stick to the recipe given so I can give it an honest rating but, I was running low on all-purpose flour and so I used 1 cup whole-grain flour and 1/2 cup all-purpose. They turned out fantastic and moist! I'm quite sure the recipe as written would have turned out great but, personally, I'm so glad I substituted whole-grain b/c the grains made it taste like I added nuts to the recipe (just like my banana bread!). The only thing I'd suggest is to keep a close eye on them b/c it can be very easy to burn the cinn/sugar topping. Also, I got 15 muffins out of the batch instead of 12... nice surprise as they went very fast!! Thanks for the recipe!
These were extremely easy to make! I added shredded coconut into the batter as well as the crumble topping...:)
These were very good, a little too sweet for me, next time i will decrease the sugar just a bit. Topping was nice and crunchy with a very moist muffin. I will have to get a jumbo muffin pan for this recipe. Just as good as the bakery.
these muffins were so delicious. I did add some chocolate chips to the batch. I didnt have baking powder so doubled the soda and they didnt rise majorly but i could hardly notice a difference. i also substituted nutmeg for cinimen cuz we were all out.
These muffins were sooo good! Make these, especially if you have a bunch of bananas that about to over ripen. I only made a few alterations: 1. I lightly mashed the bananas so that they were still kind of chunky, it was nice to see pieces of the banana in the muffin. 2. I added a capful of madagascan vanilla extract. 3. I used four medium sized bananas. 5. Tripled the crumb topping recipe. I will definitely make these muffins again! Thanks for sharing!
I stayed true to the recipes other than completly forgetting to put the topping on, they still turned out good!
I swear I have made the a ton since the first time! So good! The topping is fantastic. I am constantly being asked for these by my husband and his best friends, and their kids!
FABULOUS!!! This is the best muffin I have ever made!! Thank you so much for this recipe. I followed it exactly and its perfect!
Great Recipe! I didn't have any eggs, so I used 2 tbsp of cream cheese and a splash of milk. They turned out delicious. Mmmmmm
Delicious! I got lazy and skipped the actual topping mixture; I just sprinkled on a little cinnamon and brown sugar. They are perfect, though. Will definitely make again.
I've NEVER had a muffin from ANY bakery that tasted this good! The flavors popped and they were, oh SO moist!! I'm looking forward to making these again, and will even be trying them again using various fruits.
Big hit in my house. I did add some Cinnamon, and Almond extract to them, and we loved them. Even my "I don't do Banana" boyfriend couldn't stop eating them!!! Definitely a keeper.
Love these! I made healthy substitutes and they were still amazing. Used Splenda instead of sugar, including the Splenda brown sugar for the topping. Used wheat flour and canola oil instead of butter, using a little less than called for in the topping. just dripped a few drips into the flour/br. sugar mix until I got the right consistency. YUMMY!!
This is a terrific recipe! WHen I make these, they don't last more than a half a day. The mixture for the topping is more than enough, I actually make less and they are still yummy! And I only use 1/4 c. butter and sub 1/4 applesauce. I think the applesauce adds even more flavor!
This recipe turned out really moist and tasty! I did add an extra banana and used real butter also!! I also crushed some cashews that I had and put them in it and it gave it a nice crunchy texture! I'll definitely make these again... maybe next time I'll add chocolate chips!
Delicious and SO easy!!! I feel like I should work at Mimi's now:)I just added some peacans and used wheat flour and it was perfect. Thank you so much!
SOOOOO GOOD! I didn't change a thing. Extremely yummy! :)
Phenomenal :) delicate, fluffy, tasty and perfectly sweetened!
These are a very light-textured, fluffy muffin! I have never made a banana muffin or banana bread that wasn't pretty dense, so that surprised me. I subbed 1/4 cup of sour cream for half the butter, and that gave them an added tang that I like but I think I'll sub applesauce next time. 1/2 cup of butter for 12 muffins is just too much and would make them greasy IMO. The topping is wonderful, like toffee!
AMAZING! Wanted an alternative to always making plain banana bread, this is it! Thanks!
These are sooo good and very easy to make. I actually call them labour muffins now as I baked them while I was in early labour - they are that easy to make. The only thing I've changed is to use 1/2 cup white sugar and a 1/4 cup brown sugar and I add a teaspoon of vanilla. Thanks for a delicious muffin recipe Wendy - I never have too many bananas in my freezer anymore!
Top notch. My kids LOVE these! Made them as is written.
Absolutely delicious, no need to change a thing. Received nothing but wonderful comments and requests to be made often.
The top of the muffin is always the best part and if you add sugar crumbs the best part just got better. Excellent recipe! Thankyou:)
These are really good, and they're easy to make. The brown stringy things throw me off a little tho. And I forgot to add the crumb topping. But its worth making another batch ^__^
Made these for my hubby and he said they're awesome! The tips from the other reviews were very helpful too. Thanks for the great recipe Wendy. Definitely a keeper!
Oh my goodness!!!!!
Oh wow! I just made these for a breakfast-on-the-go for my family, and they are delicious! I followed the recipe exactly as written. There's no need to change it at all. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing!
These were very nice. I got lazy and didn't do the crumb topping, so instead I just sprinkled some cinnamon sugar on them and they were great. ALso, I added a dash of cinnamon. Otherwise, I followed everything. Very nice muffin recipe and great way to use old bananas.
UH-MAZING!!!! Hubby and I agree-best bananna muffin EVER! Only thing I did different was add 1tsp vanilla as other reviewers suggested. I see lots of banana crumb muffins in my future!
I used 4 bananas and 1/2 tsp. of banana extract. Some of my bananas were bruised and spoiled badly so I knew I probably didn't have quite enough. I also addeded 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Wonderful flavor. A definite keeper to make again.
these were delicious! a really great banana muffin, not too dense, etc. You can go a bit lighter on the sugar if you like - they are really sweet!
Aboslutely wonderful, sometimes I add nuts and dried fruit and sometimes I make it as a loaf. It is so moist and full of flavor
I decided to make these for my 16 year old daughter who is both a vegetarian and has numerous food allergies. I know these would taste perfect if I had followed the receipe to a "T" but I had to change items to fit her diet. I omitted the egg and it turned out fine. There are some of us who have teenagers whose diets are lacking...my daughter falls into that category unfortunately. These are so tastey that I was able to add oat bran to the wet mixture along with oats and some mashed carrots (she will never taste them:). A fabulous muffin I will make for now on...thank you!
Loved the muffins. Next time I'll add some walnuts to the mix.
Easy to make. Added dried cranberries to the banana mix. Also added oatmeal, plain giant tube of it you can buy, to the crumble top.
very good! your basic banana muffin very moist and so easy to make thank you for sharing!!!
