Our summer season in Upstate New York is not very long, so we try to cook outdoors often. This recipe is one of our favorites. I really don't know where it originated, but it's been handed down for many years.

Outstanding recipe! This was my first experience with flank steak---I'm sold! I pounded the entire steak, then sliced the strips, then pounded each strip to a nice uniform consistency. Otherwise, I followed the recipe letter for letter. These have a wonderful flavor, and came out super-tender! These little guys do shrink to about 2/3 of their original size, which was great for me because all of that meat looked a little challenging for two people. Thanks for an interesting new recipe! At my house, we grill any time we can. As long as the temperature is above 70. I made this for dinner tonight, and serveit with a light salad and crusty rolls. It was a big hit....Will definitely make again. Maybe for our next family get together. Always trying something a little different than the basic ribs, chicken, dogs and burgers. Thanks.... Read More

good stuff, but instead of cutting it into strips roll the whole steak up with chopped parsley garlic and parmesan cheese then secure with skewers and either bake or grill whole then slice to order. really you could roll what ever you wanted in it. Read More

First time I made this I made it as is. The marinade was okay but not great seemed to be missing something. Made a second time and cut back on the oil, added garlic, fresh pepper and a dash of cayenne to the marinade, and decided to stuff them with fresh spinach, mushrooms and blue cheese and it was better than the first time around. Great base recipe but in my opinion needs some tweaking. Read More
