Marinated Flank Steak with Peppers

"My husband and I are beef eaters, and this dish is one we like for entertaining family and friends-it's easy to prepare and looks and tastes great. A simple marinade tenderizes the steak for grilling, and colored peppers charred alongside add spicy, smoky flavors and bright colors. It's a very pretty dish."

  1. Place steak in a heavy plastic bag. Combine marinade ingredients, whisking to blend. Pour marinade over steak; turn to coat. Seal bag and refrigerate overnight. Grill steak and char peppers over hot coals. Cook steak about 10 minutes per side for medium doneness. Turn peppers until skins are charred and blackened; place peppers in paper sack, close and allow to steam for about 10 minutes. Remove skins; slice into strips and keep warm. Place steak on warm platter; let stand a few minutes before carving.

Oh my goodness, was this ever delicious! I was planning to use the steak in quesadillas, so I sliced up the meat in thin strips prior to marinating. I added a few extra cloves of garlic, because...

I made this for Recipe Group 8/6/11. I made as written except that I only used red and yellow bell and left out the green. The flank steak in my neck of the woods must be cut a little different ...

I had a 3 pound roast so I doubled the marinade. I also added 1/4 tsp of cayenne. Next time I think I will try 1/2 tsp. of cayenne. I also used just a small amount of hickory chips to lightly...

This was very good. It's hard to find a soy-free beef marinade, but this is a great one for fajitas/flank steak. It definitely tasted very lime-y on its own (still tasty, but definitely lime-y...

Made this for Recipe Group: 06, August '11. My family really enjoyed this dinner. Loved the taste of the lime in the marinade. I even zested the rind and threw it in the marinade too. I use...

I made this for the Recipe Group selection of 8/6/11. This marinade was a nice change from the usual soy sauce based marinade. I used a flat iron steak and marinated it overnight. The general...

Super easy and not too expensive for this great flavor of steak! I'm a college student and often have to settle for a less-than-prime cut of steak. This marinade really added a great flavor and ...
