Red-Hot Molded Hearts Salad

Rated as 3.8 out of 5 Stars

"This cool salad gets a bit of 'warmth' from melted cinnamon candies. Stirred into strawberry gelatin, the applesauce picks up a rosy hue and molds wonderfully. --Kay Curtis, Guthrie, Oklahoma"

We make this as a side dish, I am not a fussy cook so I don't do the jello mold thing! The kids love that it has red hots in it.

This was good. But it never gelled waited 2 days. It was more like applesauce than jello. Next time I would only try a Cup of applesauce. I'm glad I did not try unmold it or I would have had...

The flavor was good, but the texture was grainy. It didn't set up at all when we chilled it at night. I suggest not using that much applesauce next time.

i didn't really like this. i think it tasted too much like the cinnamon candies. but my buddies really liked it.
