  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine dry ingredients; add to the creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

This is my family's favorite. It is "to die for" when warm!! I sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the top to add a little more yum!I also increased the cocoa to 3 Tbls and the cinnamon to 1 tsp.

This was very good. Very moist. I was hesitant about adding the topping before baking but it came out perfect. I did add an extra cup of chocolate chips to the topping to make it more chocolatey.

Great recipe. Took out the nuts and added milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet. Chips sunk to the bottom and made a chocolate crust. "Was" amazing!
