"I simply love oatmeal cookies. I've added a variety of different goodies to the batter and think this combination is by far the best. It's especially tasty in autumn."

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars. Beat in egg, water and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  2. Drop by tablespoonfuls 3 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.

Good flavor but came out very crispy. I only cooked 8 minutes but cookies were hard. I skipped the cranberries(kids would not like), but recipe has potential. May try again-thanks.

Fabulous! The only problem was that the toffee bits melted and when they cooled they stick to the pan. To prevent this I put the toffee bits on top and they were just as good, if not better.

LOVED these. I had a bunch of trail mix to use up so instead of the cranberries, walnuts, toffee and chocolate chips I put about a cup of trail mix (choc chips, nuts, cranberries and cherries) ...

I didn't have cranberries so used raisens instead and don't like nuts. These are so so good!!
