Slow Cooker Party Mix
'This mildly seasoned snack mix is always a party favorite,' reports Dana Hughes of Gresham, Oregon. Served warm from a slow cooker, the munchable mixture is very satisfying.

This is a great recipe that I make quite often. I always add 1 or 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce to the butter and seasoning and take the lid off my crockpot for the last 30 minutes to kind of crisp things up.

This was very good but I have to leave the top off my slow cooker in order for it to be crispy. It took a lot longer then it said.
This was easy to throw together and I didn't have to heat up the kitchen with the oven. I reduced the celery salt to 1/2 tsp since some said it was too salty, I also used lightly salted peanuts. I also used corn chex instead of wheat. I increased the parmesan cheese (I used freshly grated). I added 1 tablespoon Worcestershire but will add a more next time. I also added some garlic powder, just sprinkled some in the butter mixture. I made this for a trip we were taking over the weekend. I was so proud because I actually go something done in advance, but now I have to make more because the kids got into it before the trip and it is almost gone.
This was a delicious and easy snack to make. Like others have said, it was a little salty. I added a little more parmasean cheese than the recipe called for and it was excellent! After reading the other reviews, I left the lid off for the last 30 min. of cooking and the mix got crispy and perfect for snacking!
This is a great recipe. Our family really enjoyed it and it was nice to throw it into a clean ice cream pail and take it on a road trip. I'm making it again today, but I'm throwing in some Honey Nut Cheerios as well as the Multi-Grain and some Honey-Roasted Peanut Mix for that yummy sweet and salty taste! I do feel that it needs a little bit more margarine for that big amount of cereal for more coating. Some pieces had little/no flavour despite lots of mixing. So I will be upping that a little as well. Four stars! Definite keeper!
A little too salty. I think next time, I'll add a lot more parmasean (I threw in freshly grated cheese and it gave me delicious toasted bits, but I want more of them) and perhaps some paprika, not to mention lessen the salt.
OMG! It's only been in the crockpot for an hour, and I think I've eaten 1/2 of it already. It's so good! I can't wait for it to be done, so I can eat more!
Great recipe Idea to get rid of all that cereal My kids won't eat..Thanks
This is such a wonderful snack. I usually use whatever cereals I have on hand. Keeping it in a big zip bag it lasts all week for a snack for my 2 1/2 year old.
This was all gone in one night. I was in a rush, so just popped it in the oven. Turned out great.
I followed the recipe other than, I used the butter-flavored popcorn oil in place of butter. No melting the butter:) We love it. What a snap to make this way! I am planning to use this Slow Cooker method for all of my Chex@ Party Mixes. Thank you so much for posting it

This was excellent, not too salty and once you started tasting it, you couldn't quit! We also added worcheshire sauce and used Honey Nut Cheerios which added just a little bit of sweetness to it.
This was a breeze to make, I also cut back on the celery salt and increased the Parmesan just a little. This went fast! Next time I'm going to add some puffed cheetos for a diferent texture.
I think one of the large oval slow cookers works best for this recipe. There's plenty of room to stir and the items don't get crushed. At least that's the way it worked for me. I like making the mix in the slow cooker and will do it again. Next time I think I will double the topping because it isn't real strong. I left the top on but askew so the moisture could escape. A few pieces did get a little more done than others but not burned. Oh and I did add Worcestershire sauce to the butter and used garlic salt instead of seasoned salt.
I left mine in the slow cooker for too long and had alot of burnt pieces I had to pick out. I did enjoy the flavor though.
This was done sooner than three hours, only because my crockpot is a newer model and a serious powerhouse. It took mine just under two hours. I used vegetable oil instead of butter (I'm low on butter and saving it for cooking) and I used Beau Monde seasoning instead of celery salt only because that was what I had and it's almost the same thing, only with onion flavoring. This was okay--the flavor was primarily salt and celery. I like the idea of this instead of using the microwave or oven which totally saves on my electric bill. I just didn't care for the spices. I might use this cooking method from now on only using my own spice mixes.
I can see this would be a really yummy tasting mix, however I followed the instructions to a "t" except for a shorter "cooking" time and I had a lot of burnt pieces. The other tricky part in the crock pot is every time you want to stir it up, you break the pieces of mix and make crumbs :(. Next time I think I'll stick to the oven...much easier to move around with a spatula and monitor for the potential burnt pieces. :)
I'm making this for a road trip. next time I think I might add spicy mustard.
It makes alot of Party mix. I doubled everything and it was prefect.
This is good enough, but not necessarily attention grabbing. I used celery seed rather than celery salt to avoid a too salty snack. The change was nice.
This was a great idea. I didn't put the peanuts in because I have a son who doesn't like them. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the mixture didn't seem to be enough to really taste it. I added 2 tbsp of Worcestershire par other reviewers which helped. I think I would add just a little more of the flavoring to add a little more kick. Overall, it is a very yummy treat and the kids love it.
This was okay, but needed something. I did add worcestershire sauce as others suggested, but it still didn't do it for me. I also had a problem of some of the pieces burning even though I set my timer to stir once every 30 minutes as instructed. I think I will stick to the oven (or maybe even microwave) for my Chex Mix.
Delicious...if you can plug your nose while you eat it! lol The Parmesan cheese makes it smell like dirty feet!
