  1. Place beans in a saucepan and cover with water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until crisp-tender.
  2. Meanwhile, in a skillet, saute mushrooms, onion if desired and garlic in oil until tender. Stir in water chestnuts and seasonings; heat through. Drain beans and stir into skillet. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.

Very flavorful. I omitted the water chestnuts. I would double the mushrooms next time. The parmesan topping is the "icing on the cake!"

Wonderful. I left out the onion due to personal taste. I thought the italian seasoning was a great way to spice up green beans. THANKS.

Definitely an interesting blend of ingredients, and very easy to make! The cheese is a must.

Very tasty! I added more mushrooms than the recipe called for though. I made it once with green beans that had been in the fridge a while and it was a fail - so freshness counts!
