Fancy Peanut Butter Cookies

"I always received compliments on my moist and chewy peanut butter cookies. But I wondered how to make them even more special, and I decided to decorate them!"

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, peanut butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  2. Roll into 1-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks.
  3. For frosting, cream butter, shortening, peanut butter and confectioners' sugar in a mixing bowl. Beat in milk, vanilla and salt until smooth. Frost cooked cookies. Combine icing ingredients; drizzle over frosting.

this cookie is delicious!!! i followed the recipe exactly and they turned out just a bit flat, so i put the (absolutely scrumptious) frosting between two cookies as a filling and then dipped one...

These are delicious! I followed the recipe word for word, then added a back of semi-sweet chocolate chips. I didn't make the frosting or icing, but the cookies don't need either; they are great ...

These cookies are quite delicious. I think that extra egg does help, especially if you don't plan on frosting the cookies. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

These cookies are fantastic! Made recipe exactly as written. A lot more work than a normal cookie recipe, but SO worth it.

The peanut butter icing/filling is perfect! I don't think they need the chocolate icing... quite sweet already.

These cookies tasted amazing! I had to add an extra egg to get them more chewy but I also used fresh ground peanut butter instead of store bought so that was probably to compensate for the drye...
