  1. In a skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until the met is no longer pink; drain. Add the carrots, potatoes, water and rice; mix well. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until the rice and vegetables are tender. Just before serving, stir in soy sauce, salt and pepper.

  • Long grain rice has a length 4 to 5 times that of its width. When cooked, it produces light dry grains that separate easily.

This was really good. I also used beef stock instead of water. I had to double the liquid as it was drying out. Surprisingly good! Will make it again.
