¾ pound bulk pork sausage
¼ cup chopped onion
3 cups diced fresh tomatoes, divided
¾ cup picante sauce
4 cups tortilla chips
3 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese, divided
1 medium ripe avocado, diced

Directions

Step 1
Crumble sausage into a large skillet; add onion. Cook over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain well. Add 2 cups tomatoes and picante sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated.

Sprinkle tortilla chips over a 12-in. pizza pan. Top with 2 cups cheese and the sausage mixture; sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with avocado and remaining tomatoes.

Yum!! We love nachos, especially for a quick, easy snack supper! I made these without the picante - for the kids' sake - and added lettuce. We will be having this alot!

I made this for a dinner party my fiance held and it was a total hit! I used a haberno hot sauce to marinate the sausage in and it was really spicy but it was so good - people loved how spicy the sausage was! I also added a can of black beans and it was a good addition. I'd make this again, for sure!

Made this tonight, and it was VERY good. I changed it by leaving out the picante sauce and adding in some water and some taco seasoning. We don't like avocado, so we put some black olives in it. It came out VERY tasty, and we WILL, in fact, make it again.
