Stewed Tomatoes with Dumplings

  1. In a saucepan, combine the tomatoes, sugar, salt, pepper and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. In a bowl, combine the biscuit mix and milk. Drop batter in four mounds onto the tomatoes.
  2. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in a dumpling comes out clean (do not lift cover while simmering).

These are delicious served with meatloaf! I have been making them for years. The only thing I do differently is make several smaller dumplings and sometimes add basil to the batter.

Good. I added onion, garlic, and italian seasoning. I also used a can of fire-roasted tomatoes and used made- from- scatch cornmeal dumplings. YUM
