  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in sugar and lemon juice. Cut the apple into four rings; add to skillet. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until apple rings are tender, turning frequently. Serve warm.

Without any changes IMO this is a 3 star recipe. It was too buttery and needed cinnamon. I would also use brown sugar not white sugar. I would butter the pan; then, fry the apples until juicy...

We made this and the whole family loved it! We cooked the apples with brown sugar and cinnamon instead, and put granulated sugar on when we were done.

I cut out the sugar and added cinnamon and a tablespoon of vanilla extract. Still came out beautifully!

Delightful ... used tart firm apples called 'Liberty' fresh from local orchard. Did not have lemon juice, used a little balsamic vinegar-- weird, I know-- but QUITE delicious.

This was pretty good. Although, I would have preferred brown sugar in place of the white. Overall, a solid (and simple) recipe that I will continue to tweak to my tastes and make often.
