Blueberry Dessert Squares

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar and salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Press half of the mixture into a greased 9-in. square baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes or until brown around the edges.
  2. Combine the blueberries and sugar; sprinkle over crust. Top with remaining oat mixture; press down gently. Bake 35-40 minutes longer or until golden brown. Serve warm.

This was a great recipe. I had some blueberries from the store and wanted a recipe that used things I had on hand in the pantry. Substituted I Can't Believe It's Not Butter for the shortening,...

For a healthy dessert, use 1 cup of whole wheat flour, tastes great! I also added 1/2 cup of pecans for added texture ad flavor. Was delicious!

Yummy but quite sweet! I used butter instead of shortening and it turned out fine. It needed about 13 minutes to bake for the crust, and a full 40 minutes for the second baking. If making again ...

Excellent. Made multiple times with frozen blueberries. More like a cobbler, hard to cut into squares. Definitely serve with ice cream!
