Baked Taco Chicken
a batch of this lip-smacking chicken will spice up your next supper. The mildly seasoned chicken pieces could be pan-fried or deep-fried, but we like oven baking the best because it cuts down on fat.

This recipe was easy and tasted great with a few minor changes.I made it in the oven like the recipe suggested. well first i used skinless, boneless chicken breasts.Instead of 2 packs taco seasoning i used 1 pack old el paso taco mix. When the chicken was done,it wasn't golden brown so i drizzled some melted margerine/butter over it and put it under the broiler for 5 mins.It came out crispy and golden brown but still juicy inside.

i was only making 4 pieces of chicken... i used boneless/skinless. it only took 30 mins to bake and was just right- very juicy! i also added melted butter to the top for the last 2 minutes and it turned out perfect.
I tried this recipe on bone in skinned chicken thighs, it turned out great. I had left over coating I egg washed and coated several potato wedges and baked it all in the same 11x13 pan... Have I created a totally new baked potato wedge recipe? Yes, Yes I have! There were 4 people who tried this and all 4 thought it was wonderful. I'll be making this again, easy and delicious chicken recipe for people with little time and limited cooking skills.
Pretty good, but the chicken didn't come out moist enough to me, so I'll stick a baking dish with water in with the chicken next time to counter that. The hubby and kids loved it, though. I also did the melted butter/broil at the end, which was great! I'll definitely make this again sometime. :)
Very fast and easy to make, and with a newborn those are the best kind! My hubby loved it. Used chicken fingers instead of whole breast, so he put sour cream and salsa as a dipper.
GREAT - Used 5 skinless boneless chicken breats - pounded. I used whole wheat flour by accident and 1 tsp. salt by accident. Came out great. Next time I will add 1/2 tsp ceyenne pepper for a little more spiciness. Melted 1 T of whipped butter in 9x13 glass baking dish in oven before putting in chicken. I also saved back half of the flour mixture before beginning. Glad I did - will make again next week. Keeper recipe! Used HEB taco seasoning 2 packets as recipe calls for. Was wishing I had sour cream at home - would be great on it also a little cilantro, sliced green onions, diced avocado sprinkled on top would be awesome. Served with fresh green salad.
I used breasts and extra taco seasoning. I also took another reviewers suggestion and broiled with butter to make it crispy. The best addition was corn salsa. I used trader joes. I put it on at the end. Delicious!
I am not a fan of chicken on the bone, especially with the skin, but my husband loves it so I decided to give this a try. I skinned my pieces and left the skin on for his. After coating the pieces with the taco mixture, I put them on a baking sheet covered in foil and sprayed them with vegetable oil. This made them crispy on the outside, and kept my meat from drying out. I also cut up some potatoes, tossed them with some oil and ranch dressing mix and put them on the same baking sheet. My husband loved it. Next time I will put two packages of taco seasoning in the mixture. Overall a very easy and tasty meal
A huge hit! I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs and only made half the amount of coating, which was plenty for the kilogram (2 pounds) of chicken. I baked the fillets in the oven on trays lined with baking paper and gave them a light spray with cooking oil. I served salsa and sour cream on the side. Delish!
We made this with chicken breasts and it was very tasty. It made for a quick after work meal. We added salsa on top and served with rice.
Did not like the sound of this but gave it a try. I baked this and it was an instant hit with the family. it was also very easy to make.
This was very yummy. The little ones really liked it too. I did add a few things. For the dry crust mix I added crushed up crackers (ritz), but only to add little crunch, and a couple diced potatoes too. The potatoes picked up the flavor very well. During the last 15 minutes of baking I put a few scoops of butter, and a drizzle of olive oil in the pan. After I took the chicken out of the oven I sprinkled Mexican style shredded cheese over the entire dish. I served the chicken with taco rice and salsa. It was a hit. Next time I used nacho chips instead of crackers and sever with sour cream.
Considering the easy prep, this dish was flavorful enough that I'll make it again. I used 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts. A half-batch of dry ingredients and 1 egg/1 Tbsp milk for dredging would have sufficed. Next time, I'll try another reviewer's idea about a sour cream & salsa dipping sauce. My husband likes things super spicy, so he added hot sauce to his. I'm not a huge fan of spicy; this had just enough seasoning. Very good and the house smelled great.
Very good and simple chicken recipe. I used all bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs and baked on a roasting pan with a rack so it will not bake in the fat from the skin. As another rater mentioned, I dabbed margarine on the chicken the last 5 mniutes of baking because there was some dry coating on the thighs. The margarine fixed that right up and it was nice and crispy.
Very good and so easy!! I added a can of enchilada sauce and half a can of creamed corn around the chicken before sticking it in the oven! Yummy and makes a nice sauce. I also cooked it at 375 degrees for 34 minutes instead.
Made this for a total of 8 people. Had to double reciepe because I used 5lbs of chicken quarters. My kids loved it. It didn't come out as crispy as I thought it would but the flavor made up for that.
This was a quick, SIMPLE, and tasty version of baked chicken! I used about 9 defrosted chicken tenderloins, and cut the amounts of everything else in half b/c I didn't need that much coating. Except another reviewer mentioned using less flour, so I reduced it down to 1/4 cup. Oh, and I used seasoned salt rather than regular salt. Before putting in the oven, I put a little bit of water on the bottom of the baking dish. This helped keep the chicken moist. I only baked it for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees. At 20 minutes, I drizzled about 2 tablespoons of melted butter onto the chicken and then broiled it for about 5 minutes. The result was very moist, well seasoned chicken. I would totally make this again! I dipped my chicken in some light sour cream. YUM~~ leftovers would be great on a salad, in a taco, wrap, etc. This dish tastes like a taco-less taco!
Tried recipe using chicken strips. Husband said "Don't make that again". Thought it was just fair.
easy! Per my 10 year old it was "the best chicken I've ever made". Had to cook breasts a bit longer because they were really meaty, but wow- what a crispy, juicy way to eat baked chicken!
Loved finding this recipe after loosing the exact same recipe frome Taste of Home. Pretty good for a week night meal
Very good and different! I used Chicken Tenderloin instead - cut the cooking time to almost less than 20 minutes. With the left overs, I cut them up in strips and made a Taco Chicken Salad. Very Yummy! Thanks!
By looking at my splattered up recipe card, you can see it is family favorite. Kids love it. It's easy to make with only a few ingredients, and goes great with a variety of side dishes, corn, salsa, salads, beans, wraps, have fun with this one!
Very very good. I baked at 425 until the juices ran clear because I had something else in the oven at the same time, but it saved me from having to turn on the broiler at the end though. Will definitely make again, but I think next time I might cut back on the flour and add another packet of taco seasoning.
Really good flavor! I messed up and forgot to do the egg/milk wash before I put the chicken in the bag! Oh well, still ended up being awesome!
Bone-in, with skin chicken breast was on sale so that's what i used. followed the recipe. baked it at 350 for 1 hour with some potatoes. turned out great. skin was crispy and meat was very moist. My 8 year old ate it up!
