Sweet-and-Sour Chicken
Dorothy Hess of Hartwell, Georgia uses her slow-cooker to fix this stir-fry like supper. Adding the onions, pineapple and snow peas later in the process keeps them from becoming over-cooked.

I used this recipe yet it wasn't exactly the tase I wanted. I think it was the storebought sauce. I will keep trying til' I get my taste. Make sure not to add certain veggies til' the end. I added a portion of onions early on as I wanted them to aid in the flavor of the chicken. then added more later so they would be crispy. I will tweak this some more until I get it the way I want it.
Read MoreAfter 3 hours the chicken was dried out and stringy. Putting the cornstarch/sweet and sour mixture in the crockpot on high for 15 minutes was not nearly enough time for the sauce to thicken or the vegetables to soften. After 20 minutes I wound up taking the chicken and carrot pieces out and putting the vegetables and sauce into a wok on the stove.

Very nice recipe, but I would prefer a recipe that makes the sweet and sour from scratch as I never have sweet and sour in the house. The jarred kinds just aren't very good.

Very good and will positively be doing again but next time will only use skinless thighs. This time I deboned a whole chicken and cut it into large strips/pieces (like thigh in 1/2 etc.) I did add some red and green pepper stiips also. Everything else I did exactly.yummmmmy!!!!!
it was easy enough to make but it didn't make a very good impression on any of the 8 people in our family.
This was pretty good. However, the snow peas really need to cook for longer than the recipe called for. If I make this again I'll probably put the snow peas in a couple of hours before it's done cooking, or even at the beginning of cooking.
