Hearty Maple Beans

Rated as 5 out of 5 Stars

"'I modified this recipe to suit my family's taste,' notes Marge Glassic from Easton, Pennsylvania. 'It's a great side dish for a backyard barbecue with hamburgers and hot dogs. It can be made in advance and kept warm in a slow cooked for hours without losing any flavor.'"

Perfect to make ahead for 4th of July cookout. Oven-baked them in the AM and then put them in the crockpot until we ate later in the day. The texture was fine even after sitting for a few hours.

I have made this now at least half a dozen times and it does not disappoint! So versatile! I have made it with and without bacon, polish and kielbasa sausage, and even leftover ham. I omit one...

These were superb! You could actually serve this as a main dish, but we ate it as a side to meatloaf and I have to say, it outshone the meatloaf!
