  1. Cream together shortening and sugars. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Blend together flour, baking soda, and salt; mix into the creamed mixture. Mix in nuts.
  2. Mold into a long roll about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap in wax paper, and chill several hours.
  3. Cut thin, and place on greased baking sheets.
  4. Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for about 8 minutes.

This was soooooooo easy and the cookies were great. I kept half the dough in the freezer for later use.

We were disappointed with these. They were a little too bland for us, and the shortening taste was strong.

I made these with butter, because that's what I had on hand. I let them sit in the fridge for 2 hours before cutting them to bake. I cut them about 1/4" thick and they got very puffy. Didn't tur...
