  • Combine butter or margarine, molasses, and unsweetened chocolate in the top of a double boiler. Heat until chocolate melts. Stir until smooth.

  • Sift together flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, and salt. Stir in melted chocolate mixture and milk. Mix well. Chill until firm.

  • Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.

  • Bake at 375 degrees F ( 190 degrees C) for about 10 minutes.

Only good if you like bitter coffee flavors. Every one thought they were espresso cookies. These did not fly off the plate. Read More

Very good and tasty. This is the best recipe for gingerbread cookies I've seen so far. Substituted dark corn syrup for molasses and used cookie cutters to make gingerbread men. Will make again. Read More

These are nice cookies if you like real gingerbread. My picky husband who requested gingerbread cookies did not really like these he said they were too strong and sweet. I said that's what gingerbread is! I would probably not make these again due to my families preference but this is a good recipe give it a try! Read More
