  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and light. Add the flour, salt, and ground hazelnuts; stir together until well combined. Chill dough for 1 hour, then drop onto greased cookie sheets in rounded teaspoons.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then roll in powdered sugar. Cool completely on a wire rack, then roll in powdered sugar once again.

They're good, easy to make, but I find them a bit bland on their own. I wonder if granulated sugar would make a difference? Also, I think I would add a little bit more butter next time.

love, love these tea cakes, i use regular sugar,my family and friend love them also, she ask for the recipe.

I had 2 cups of leftover peanuts so I subsituted them, finely chopped, for the hazelnuts. The cookies came out great; they had a different flavor but were still just as rich and delicious!

I made these, they are to die for. I gave it 5 stars and would have gave them a 6 if possible. Great recipe Gail.

Great cookies! I made only a half batch, and I had to use a bit of extra butter to get them to stick. Might be because I used crushed almonds instead of ground. I will definitely make them again.

I made this recipe last night. Delightful!!!! It is worth making. I used a 1/2 cup of almonds verses two cups & it was still crunchy enough with the right texture!!! Str8 DELICIOUZ!!!!!
