- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Combine the 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup shortening. Mix until it reaches a coarse crumb mixture.
- Stir together eggs, sugar, oil, and buttermilk. Then add dry ingredients and vanilla. Drop from tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle crumb mixture on dough.
- Bake until slightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes.

I'm afraid I agree with the other reviewers. These cookies are extremely doughy and very bland. Won't make these again, sorry.
This recipe uses way too much flour and makes way too much dough. The cookies don't have a whole lot of flavor, and I only used brown sugar to sprinkle on top hoping to make them sweeter and les...
The dough looked more like batter, and they didn't have any flavor at all, except maybe a hint of the buttermilk.
