Nana Smith's Oatmeal Biscuits

"Old-style English oatmeal cookies, more like a bar, very popular in the 1950's, at least in our house."

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Grease 9 x 9 inch pan.
  2. Melt butter or margarine in saucepan, then mix with other ingredients. Toast sesame seeds in oven or grill, being very careful to avoid burning them. Mix with other ingredients and stir well. Press into greased tin, should be about a half inch thick.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes (until lightly brown). Cool in pan, cutting into slices after a minute or so cooling, then leaving in pan until completely cool.

Not something I'll bake again. It's reminds me of a very dry granola bar.

So easy for a quick treat when you haven't many ingredients. Did take a lot longer in the oven though! I added raisins to mine. Tried it with golden syrup another time: Amazing!!!

This was a waste of my time, energy and money. I think the recipe was not complete.

This is great as crust. but a light crust. apple,pear,peach,crisp.

Easy, quick tasty. I added cornflakes, nuts, raisins etc and they were great muesli bars!
