These Vera Bradley Face Masks Are the Only Ones I'll Wear After Trying More Than a Dozen
In a turn that can best be described as quintessential 2020, I've found myself exchanging text messages with friends and family members about the best face masks, swapping secrets the way we once did dinner recipes. We scrutinize the size, the patterns, the elastics. Are they too tall, too short, too tight? If you'd told me last year that I'd be trying multiple face masks in an attempt to find the best option so I could share it with my friends, you'd certainly have seen a look of shock on my face.
But I have tried (and tried) them. And I think I've found the absolute best ones: the Vera Bradley Cotton Face Masks. These beautifully designed face masks, which are among Amazon's best-selling face masks, were first released this spring. They sold out rapidly. I snagged a few in April when they were first released, and I've been wearing them almost daily since.
Vera Bradley is known for bold, distinct patterns of jewel tones, pastels, florals, and abstract prints. And while they're still a favorite brand for lunch boxes and overnight bags, their cotton face masks may just be their best new item of 2020. They've brought those beloved design details to a comfortable, secure face mask that you might even, dare I say it, enjoy wearing.
But beyond the way they look, the best selling point for these cotton masks is their design. While the mask portion is tall (it measures 5.75 inches from top seam to bottom and easily covers my nose to below my chin), I do not have the problem of the top of the masks bumping into my lower eye. That's a concern I have with many other one-size-fits-all masks.
What's more, the masks are made from 100 percent cotton with several layers of fabric. There's even a pocket for a PM 2.5 disposable filter, though filters are not included with the mask.
My favorite part of this mask? Its elastics are taut enough to keep the mask in place without tugging on my ears, which makes it comfortable enough to wear for hours when I have to. Finally, these masks don't have metallic nose bridges. While some people like it for the snug fit, I've grown to dislike the bendable metal pieces, as they rarely stay in place, and they easily break when washed.
If you find the elastics are a little big, grab a bag of these cord locks for face masks ($7/400 pieces; amazon.com). These pieces slip onto elastics and securely hold them to be a bit tighter if you need that for a better fit.
While you can certainly keep a box of disposable masks in your car or purse, you can stash a few extra washable, reusable masks there as well, like these from Vera Bradley. This way, you'll never be without a mask to keep you and others safe whether you're shopping or strolling through the park.
