Lodge Adds New Cast Iron Pieces to Their Bakeware Lineup
Cast iron is beloved in the home cook's kitchen. A well-seasoned cast iron skillet can beautifully sear steaks, caramelize onions, and sauté Brussels sprouts to crisp perfection. Cast iron skillets are even great for upside-down cakes and fruit crisps and cobblers. But missing from many cast iron cookware lines (and home cast iron collections) is dishes for bread, pies, and casseroles. Now, one company is filling that void.
One of the great benefits of cast iron cookware is that the dishes retain heat well. This heat also helps to crisp crusts and make every inch of a baked good extra toasty, so it's a natural cookware for the home baker. But one of the disadvantages to cast iron cookware is its weight.
That's why Lodge, capitalizing on 124 years of casting know-how, added a dual-handle design to classic bakeware pieces like a loaf pan, wedge pan, and cornstick pan. And to make sure you can safely carry them from oven to counter to table, the cast iron pieces also come with rubber grips or can be purchased with them.
Whether you're baking your first apple bread of the season or looking to stock up on holiday gifts early, there's a lot to love in this new Lodge bakeware collection. All nine pieces are available on Lodge's website; five pieces are available at Target. Here's a little bit more info about each of those pieces.
