Cuisinart's New Cordless Small Appliances Are a Dream for Small Kitchens
As many kitchen appliances are vying for what may be a single power outlet in some kitchens, home cooks often find themselves unplugging and rearranging their appliances, just to get dinner done.
But Cuisinart's new EvolutionX collection hopes to help with that. The new line of small appliances are cordless and rechargeable, so they may require space on that small counter (no help there), but at least you won't have to find a spot to plug it in.
"We pride ourselves on listening to customer's needs and the EvolutionX collection is a direct result of that," says Mary Rodgers, director of marketing communications at Cuisinart, in a statement to media. "We found a need for an electric appliance solution that works for small kitchens, kitchens with awkwardly placed outlets and mostly importantly, high performing tools that provide chef quality results no matter where you prep and entertain. With that in mind, the EvolutionX collection was born."
The idea is spot on for so many home cooks: If you're not dependent on finding an accessible wall outlet, you just may get more use out of the appliances. An additional benefit is the absence of cords also makes for easier storage and no more tangled wires when trying to retrieve that hand mixer or chopper from the cabinet.
Of course, there are drawbacks to this concept as well. Being wireless and rechargeable also means that said appliances do need to be charged, and what is more annoying than having to maneuver various tools in order to find an available power outlet? That'd be wanting to use a hand mixer right now and discovering the device has no juice left and needs to be recharged.
According to a press release from Cuisinart, each of the items in the new line has a 20-minute runtime per full charge, and a full charge takes two hours, so that means you might want to plan ahead if you plan to puree that bisque for tonight's dinner.
Twenty minutes of runtime is more than one might imagine, though. For example, for the Rechargeable Cordless Hand Blender, the brand says that charge will last long enough to blend up to 40 bowls of squash soup on a full charge battery, The Rechargeable Cordless 5-Speed Hand Mixer has the ability to mix up to 360 cookies on a fully charged battery. That means unless you are using that tool to make a whole lot of food, you'll get plenty of uses between charges.
As for the wine opener, you'll be able to open 80 natural or 50 synthetic corks out of a charge. That's a whole lot of wine, no matter how big the gathering.

If you need a more streamlined and concise workspace while making those cookies or blending that soup, you can't beat going cordless. And, if you have kids or pets running about, no cords means no cords to trip over, too! The charging is done via USB, and the same charger works with all the appliances in the line, which helps for streamlining storage space as well.
