I like things that go "crunch!" I can't eat a smooth, custard-ey pie, or ice cream that doesn't have something that I can bite into. Along comes the holidays and I'm in charge of dessert, so a basic pumpkin pie evolved into a pie with some bite.

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

  • In large bowl, combine all of the pie ingredients and pour into prepared graham-cracker crust.

  • Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 and bake an additional 30 min.

  • Meanwhile, in small bowl, combine brown sugar with flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until coarse and crumbly, then stir in walnuts.

  • Remove pie from oven and gently spread crumb topping over it. Bake for 15 more min. and cool completely.
