I am a nonprofit manager who loves to unwind by cooking. I love spicy food, and food that has cultural flair. As such I think I'm pretty adventurous, and love to try and make foods that make me feel like I'm on vacation.

Savory Grilled Peaches

Rating: 4.5 stars 19
Grilled peaches are given a slightly savory treatment to make them an excellent summertime side dish.

Vegan (say what?!) Gumbo

Rating: 4.5 stars 16
I was challenged to come up with a vegan gumbo recipe that removed the meat, but kept similar consistency, texture, and that savory, spicy flavor. Laissez les bons temp rouler!

Drunken Green Beans

Spicy green bean dish cooked in the Thai "drunken" style. Serve as a side dish, or with rice as a vegetarian/vegan main dish.

Stuffed eggplant with ground chicken and basil

Fresh garden basil and ground chicken stuffed eggplant is out of this world! Beautiful flavor. Serve as a healthy but filling main dish accompanied by marinated tomato salad.

Sausage and Water Chestnut Pinwheels

Easy finger food and the right size for a party-size appetizer plate.

Brazilian Collards

Rating: 4.5 stars 49
Spicy, tangy collard greens accented with black pepper bacon, cayenne pepper and vinegar are a big deal in Brazil. Here is my recipe. Since bacon fat is an essential part of this recipe don't drain it during any of the steps! I say that if your veggies are fattening then eat a lighter main dish!

Sauerbraten Klopse (Sauerbraten Meatballs)

This is a recipe that we really enjoy from this site (can't take the credit for it myself). One suggestion with casino parties: since guests are doing a lot with their hands (holding drinks, playing cards, rolling dice, etc.), don't force them to need utensils to eat the food. Toothpick food works really well in this situation!

Southwestern Macaroni and Cheese with Adobo Meatballs

A smooth and surprising macaroni and cheese recipe with savory Mexican meatballs that will make you say "Ole! Gimme more!"
