Sarah Jo

I'm a working mother of two. I've been with my husband for
ten years. I'm pretty content with my life. With two young boys and a husband who works a lot of the time, I work at not only to keep them satiated, but for a stress relief as well. Since having kids, I've gotten out of shape and never lost my baby weight. Now,I'm learning to cook a little lighter, use organic when it's financially feasable and cut out all excess processed foods at all costs. I remain positive that I'll eventually return to the weight I was when I met my husband....though
the sugar monster inside threatens to take me down. So far, I'm down eight pants sizes already and hope to eventually get down to my pre-baby weight. I've cut out all diet sodas, most sweeteners, and recently, sleep aids. I try my best to incorporate exercise every day.
Cranberry Pork Chops

Excellent recipe. I had to admit that I had my doubts about adding mustard to cranberry sauce, but I was pleasantly surprized. My husband and eldest son both flipped for this recipe, asking for seconds. I ended up fishing out the chops, and just dumping the water-cornstarch mixture into the hot cranberry sauce, and cooked it on HIGH for another ten minutes. I also pieced up the chops and redeposited it back into the sauce and served it gravy-style over rice. If I were to make this again, and I likely will, due to the reaction of my family, I will use boneless pork chops.

Banana Chai Bread

Great recipe. What I did was reduced the baking powder to a teaspoon, added more banana, and upped the chai. I took the advice of some of the other posters and when I added the chai, I warmed my pre-packaged chai and added three chai teabags to strengthen the chai taste. Interesting recipe, but surprizingly wonderful. I recieved many complements on this recipe.

Slow-Cooked Steak Fajitas

Great recipe. The only change I made was adding the juice of one lime. Our family ate the whole crockpot full. No leftovers. This is going in my current rotation! EDITED 08/18/08: I made this again today filling the whole crockpot. I added an extra onion and and extra pepper. (And those peppers were HUGE. I remember last time that I doubled the spices, I just might do that again. I also used garlic powder and worchestershire sauce. My house smells SO good. I plan on shredding some pepperjack to go with it and making homemade refried beans.

Dutch Apple Pie

Way good. I changed up the recipe, adding cinnamon to the crumb topping, and cinnamon AND nutmeg to the apples. Instead of dicing the apples, I cut them into thin pieces. I also drizzled the top of the hot pie with caramel sauce. Great recipe.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Great recipe! All those who recommended cooking the cookies for 7 minutes were dead on. Perfect time. This is the first snickerdoodle recipe I've made that hasn't spread. The shortening/butter mixture was perfect. I double coated my cookies in the cinnamon-sugar mixture for extra flavor.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies II

This recipe was easy to put together, and the taste of the cookies was fabulous. The only thing I would add would be another 1/4 c. of flour, as these cookies spread more than I would have liked. I like a firmer cookie.

Good recipe. Really easy to make, and the dough was excellent for rolling balls. I think I might add more ginger next time, as I like a spicier cookie. Oh, and I added nutmeg to the cookie dough.

Okay recipe. Would add more flour and extra vanilla if I made it again.

I used this recipe to make Peppermint Blossoms with the new Candy Cane Kisses. REVISION: Now that I've made these a couple times and know the drill, I recommend that you unwrap and freeze the Candy Cane Kisses before you stick them on the cookies. This will make it harder for them to pool when you place them on top of the cookies. Turned out wonderful. I would make this again, and recommend to all my friends.

Great recipe. Like the other testers said, follow the recipe to a "t". I made this recipe with Kissables candy bits and chopped Hershey bars. My husband loved it.

Raspberry Peach Crumble

I used a half-can of whole berry cranberry sauce with the peaches and a tablespoon of flour. (Trying to use what I already had in the pantry.) Tasty. Even better with vanilla ice cream.

'It's Da Bomb' Ranch Popcorn

This is better if you use air popped popcorn. Also, cut back and use half a packet of ranch dressing and use pepper to season, too.
