Ah, wonderful. Comfort food for any time of day for me. I prefer this recipe as some call for 16 oz. of cream cheese. I used mostly Stevia instead of sugar, and cut the total amount of sweetener by 1/3.
SO Wonderful.. Made it my meal along with some spaghetti sauce for dipping. I seasoned panko bread crumbs with Crazy Jane's Chunky Mixed Up Garlic Seasoning and added about 1/3 cup fresh Parmesan cheese. Also had Sririacha Mayo on hand and used that for half the mayo called for.
I do not discard the liquid. I strain it, freeze it and substitute it for water in a pot of Amish ham, potato and green beans. Yummy !
Used charcoal grill , at low grill height of about 3 inches and without foil. Outstanding ! Done in about 12 minutes. Leftovers moist and excellent next day. I know that the family will be requesting more picnics with this winner ! Paired it with Best in the West baked beans/ corn on cob/ fruit salad and GF chocolate bundt cake using King Arthur mix. All great !!!
Complex favors. Nicely spicy ! Decreased brown sugar to 1/4 cup for 2.5 # roast. Had put rub on 8 hours in advance and refrigerated. After reading other comments, would put rub on closer to roasting. The juices would have burned but I noticed the pan was dry and added water during cooking . Next time will make sure the roast just fits the pan. We really enjoyed it and would make again.
Consistently wonderful. My "go to" cake for church functions. Worth the small effort of not using a boxed mix !
A friend made this using regular noodles and it was a 5 !!!
I made it using Target's 9 oz. "Simply Balanced" oven ready gluten free noodles, and it was a little watery. It could be that the spinach was the culprit.
I have since read that GF products absorb more liquid, so fewer oz. of the product would be used, which may be the reason GF noodles come in 9 oz instead of 12 oz. packages.
Will update review when I make it again soon.
2022 Update.
This is fabulous lasagna when you get the proportions right. Be aware that with some artisan lasagna noodles, it will take 15 instead of 10 to equal a 12 oz box of a name brand rippled noodle.
( 12 oz usually = 10 noodles ).
So I kinda had lasagna soup this time, but it is delicious. Next time I will try to only boil the noodles for 2 minutes.
