I made a number of changes - used Chipotle Sauce, added diced jalapenos, onion, garlic, and used a rotisserie chicken rather than canned chicken - that stuff is dry. Added fresh parsley for color and diced fresno chili peppers on top.
I did make some changes, but what a great idea. I could have eaten just as the recipe was written, but... I also tweak things to be my own. I did add fresh tomatoes and corn from the cob - also added a little extra of both. Used Chicken stock (NOT broth) instead of the water. Salt the rice when you add it so it absorbs it - just like pasta, you have to salt the water you put it in. Arborio Rice acts like a pasta. Fresh basil is the only way to go with this, dried will not give you the taste this dish calls for. i also used Romano Cheese instead of Parm, I like the pungent taste of Romano - Asiago would work really well too! At the end, I topped it with diced crispy bacon pieces. AMAZING!! This dish is very versatile - thank you so much for your recipe!
The recipe was ok
I made this exactly as is and it was amazing!
OUTSTANDING!! The vanilla bean paste added to the whipped cream was amazing! Home run!!
OMG!!! This was amazing! I added extra cayenne pepper b/c I like stuff hot, but that was it. I made it for our block party of nearly 83 people. Local grocery store had leg quarters on sale in these huge bags for .49 cents per pound... myself and 4 others went in together to make enough chicken to be the entree for the party using this recipe. I also printed out 100 recipe cards to set next to the huge pans of chicken. Everyone went nuts over the chicken and every recipe card was gone!! We all thank you for this recipe.... home run!
It was "Ok." If you use Sweet or Hot Italian Sausage and a bottle of Pasta Sauce - you don't need to add all the extra seasonings. Marinara doesn't have Italian seasoning in it and regular sausage doesn't have Italian seasonings in it - therefore why use them only to add Italian seasoning? Mix pasta sauce in with the ground sausage 5 min. b/4 the sausage is fully cooked, so it doesn't dry out in the oven. If you spoon it into the shells while still hot, then add cheese, you only need to put it into the oven with "no-foil" for about 15 min (depending on y our stove) or until the cheese is melted. This is a meal that you can put together fast, so it is great for weeknight meals.
Obviously this recipe is so versatile that you can add almost anything you want to it. Thank you Dawn for such a great tasting recipe. I added onion to it, only b/c I LOVE onions. Besides that, very tasty, wonderful for leftovers and I froze it into portions that I thaw and take to work to heat up and it tastes just like it did when I first made it!!! AMAZING - Thank you again, Dawn!
AMAZING! Just like I remember when I had it in a little cafe' in Rome. This is the same recipe I have used for years before and after coming to the states. There is nothing like it. Thank you so much for the recipe!
Nice and easy. I did add some chicken boullion to the water. This is a great way to eat chicken when on a diet, especially a no-carb diet. Use it for buffalo chicken dip or buffalo chicken sandwiches. Thank you for your recipe! :-)
