Wonderful spring salad. I made an addition of slivered almonds for a bit more of a crunch.
I added 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon cloves, 1 teaspoon cream of tartar, and 1/2 cup chopped pecans. Wow! Sweet and spicey and crispy chewy. Wonderful. 4.5 stars.
This is simple & delicious! Of course I changed a few things. I like more spice so I added 2 cloves garlic when sauteeing the veggies, 1/2 teaspoon celery salt, 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning & lots of black pepper. I didn't have any vegetable broth so I used an envelope of dry vegetable soup mix & added 2 cups of water. Since I had left over turkey from Thanksgiving I used that instead of chicken & I also had left over rice so used rice instead of noodles. Tossed in a handful of peas & served with some hot rolls & a salad. It was great for a snowy winter night in Iowa.
This is delicious and hearty bean dish. I decreased the amount of brown sugar to 1/2 cup & the vinegar to 2 Tablespoons and added a can of black beans to the mixture. By decreasing the sugar the falvor of the beans come through. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the alterations I made.
Very tasty but I did make a few changes. I added some miced garlic while browning the beef & onion. Also added a can of dark red kidney beans (with liquid) & increased the water slightly to ensure the rice cooked properly.
Fantastic! I mixed these up (without the sausage )then placed some pork chops in the bottom of the slow cooker. Used 1 Tbsp chili powder & 1 Tbsp Chipotle powder. Poured the beans over the chops & cooked on low all day. Truly Pork & Beans!
Excellent comfort food! Very tasty. From the other reviewer's advice I did double the sauce & add some spices to our taste such as garlic, poultry seasoning, parsley & chives. I really didn't measure the vegetables or chicken, just fixed the amount I normally would for a meal. I also added the chicken & vegetable mixture to the sauce & let simmer a couple of minutes before placing in the pie pan. By doubling the sauce there was too much filling to all fit in my deep dish pie pan. That's not necessarily a bad thing as I put the remainder in the freezer for a quick meal another night. May heat & serve over hot biscuits. This is definitely saved in my recipe box. Thanks for sharing.
Not impressive. The positive aspects were that the chicken was moist & tender & nicely browned & preparation was not difficult. Most of the ingredients are those I have on hand most of the time. The family thought it was good, I thought it just lacked flavor. Not bad just not what I was expecting & certainly nothing to brag about.
No one in my family liked this. We are not picky eaters but not impressed. Lots of leftovers that were not saved. Another reviewer stated it taste like Hamburger Helper. We will take Hamburger Helper over this any day. Sorry.
Very disappointing. With all the veggies & cheese I was expecting more. Very bland even though I more than doubled the spices & was very heavy with the cayenne pepper. It just lacked something. However Hubby thought it was good. The most redeeming quality of this dish is that I took the leftovers & made enchildas with them as suggested by another reviewer. As enchiladas they were better. I doubt this will be on my "keep" list.
I love this site with all the reviews from down home cooks. I fixed this and followed a couple suggestions from other reviews such as using balsalmic vinegar & added sliced carrots. Stir fried the veggies added them to the marinade, seared the chops & poured it all over the chops. Placed the lid on my oven safe cookware & baked 35 min at 350 degrees as my chops were only about 1/2 inch thick. Only gave it 4 stars since I made the changes.
This is one of our favorite Asian dishes. I gave it four stars because I made a few changes because as it was it was lacking vegetables. The changes I made was to double the sauce, marinate the chicken for at least a couple of hours in the sauce, and last but definitely not least when the chicken is done add a bag of frozen stirfry veggies. Simmer a couple of minutes until the flavors have a chance to blend, serve and enjoy!
