I would give this recipe 3.5 stars. It was simple, easy to make, fast, and used ingredients that we all typically have handy for the most part. (As one of the other cooks suggested, you can use 2 cups flour, 1 TBSP baking powder, 1/2 TSP salt, and 1/3 C butter if you do not have biscuit mix in your pantry.) However I thought the cheddar flavor was muted and not as cheesy or pronounced as I would have liked. I also found the garlic salt to add a little bit too salty of a flavor. Next time I would definitely use sharp cheddar cheese, add extra cheese, and use less garlic salt OR use garlic powder on the top instead of garlic salt
This banana bread is absolutely delicious! I followed the recipe exactly as given, no added spices or flavorings, and it turned out fabulous. Great tasting, very moist, and the perfect solution to using old bananas. I used about 5 large bananas and got just slightly under the 2 and 1/3 cup the recipe called for, so if you want the entire 2 and 1/3 cup mashed banana you will need about 6 large ones. I will definitely make this again, probably adding some walnuts and perhaps vanilla and cinnamon just to try it, although perfect as is!
I made this dish on a whim just to try cooking shrimp, and boy was it great! I didn't have red wine vinegar, so instead used apple cider vinegar, which was a fine substitution. I let the shrimp marinade for about 2 hours, turning them in the refrigerator just to make sure all of them were getting coated and soaking in the flavor. I (unfortunately) had forgotten to buy fresh basil at the store and had to use dry basil. I was surprised that it still yielded a scrumptious marinade, although next time i will try the basil fresh instead of dried. I used a little sandwich grill inside and did not need to oil the grill because it was non stick. Make sure to watch them as they cook fast!
I was very disappointed with how this meatloaf turned out, especially given such high reader ratings. I always make Betty Crocker's meatloaf, and even though it is a great loaf, I decided to try a different one. Unfortunately, this dish turned out mushy and very much lacking in flavor. The only thing I liked about it was the ketchup and brown sugar sauce, but even that I altered after reading reviews. I will not use this meatloaf recipe again, but if I were to change anything about it i would add a handful of sharp cheddar cheese to it and I would recommend using Italian seasoned bread crumbs to help develop flavor. Also, it took at least 15 minutes longer to bake than the recipe claimed, so make sure to allot for the extra baking time!
I am a HUGE macaroni and cheese lover and typically like to eat my mac n'cheese gooey and right out of the pan, as opposed to baking it. I find it cheesier and more delicious that way however, with this mac n'cheese you MUST bake it! I tried it right out of the pan and was almost ready to throw it out on the spot! The cheese flavor was gross (and i like the taste of american cheese, so that wasn't the issue) and it was just overwhelmingly fake cheese tasting. I decided to pop it in the oven since it was already "ruined" in my eyes, and low and behold, it was great after baking! The artificial cheese taste magically vanished, and it was actually quite delicious! I will make this version again, but will not even bother to eat a small bowl unless baked. Also, I used an entire 13.5 oz box of elbows because there was plenty of cheese sauce to cover it.
This is the best scone recipe I have ever tried. They are simple to make and delicious enough to make you want to devour the entire batch in a sitting! These scones have the most incredible flavor, perfect consistency/texture, and look cafe bought professional. My husband even told his friend that we had bought them from a bakery, and he believed it easily! The only thing I changed from the original recipe was using blueberry flavored cranberries (Craisins) instead of raisins because I do not like raisins. I also added slightly more than the 1/2 cup that the recipe calls for to be sure that there was plenty of the sweet berry in each scone. You must try this recipe!!! It will not disappoint
This recipe deserves 4.5 stars. The cookie dough is delicious, and i especially love that it included walnuts! Yummy! I took the advice of one reviewer and made two cookies in 9" cake pans. I simply followed the recipe exactly as it stated, then divided the dough evenly amongst 2 cake pans, pressed it down all the way to the edges of the pans, and baked them for about 19 minutes. I didn't know if the cookies would turn out okay since I am in a high altitude city and there wasn't a high altitude variation, but the consistency of the giant cookies were great! I froze the cookies, then stacked them on top of each other, adding a thick layer of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream between them for a friend's birthday. While the flavor was incredible, freezing the cookies did make them rather hard/difficult to cut through. I thawed it outside of the freezer for 35 minutes before serving, and it was still a difficult eating it with a fork. If you want to make the giant cookie-ice cream-cake like I did, I would recommend making only half the cookie dough to divide among the two cake pans, so that the cookies are less thick and therefore easier to cut through when frozen. Also, be sure to let the ice cream soften before spreading it between the layers to make assembling it easier and less time consuming. I will make this again!
I followed this recipe as exactly as stated except for leaving out fennel seeds because I strongly dislike the taste of fennel, and the lasagne turned out delicious! The reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was slightly too salty (like many of the other reviewers wrote, I will leave out the 1 tablespoon of salt in the meat sauce next time), it was missing a green element (I will add a row of spinach to each of the two layers the recipe has us create, probably adding it on top of the ricotta layers), and it was an expensive dish ($25-30 for the casserole). Otherwise very tasty, cheesy, and filling!
Although the consistency and crumble topping was nice, I found these muffins to not be sweet enough at all. I would bite into one and think "oh yeah this is going to be good", but as I continued chewing and swallowing, it was missing that sweetness you expect from muffins. The only sweet part was the topping, which was fantastic, but not something you got with every bite. I ended up throwing away nine out of the twelve I made and will not follow this recipe again :(
