I work for a consulting firm in Houston which requires me to travel extensively. Own a ranch a hundred miles North of Houston in Elwood Texas and have about 40 head of Angus cattle, still building my herd. Hope to retire in 4 years so I can do what I really like to do, raise cattle, hunt, fish, cook and sip Scotch whisky, not necessarily in that order.

Followed the recipe exactly as written and all turned out very well. The pie filling did tend to run after removing the spring-pan sides. Also, I used a 9" springform pan and it worked well, not sure that an 8" would hold all the filling. Great recipe.

Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers

Great recipe, will use it this weekend. Regarding oiling the grill prior to cooking the burgers. If the grill has been properly preheated, most if not all oil will burn off. I find if I lightly oil the meat, burgers or otherwise, it is less likely to stick. I use the spray-on type, works very well on chicken.

Chicken Cordon Bleu-ish Grilled Sandwich

This is a great. quick and easy, tasty recipe. I began making these sandwiches several years ago when we started buying pre-cooked chicken breasts from Sam's. The only part of the recipe I haven't tried was adding the BBQ sauce. Everyone I've made this sandwich for loved it.

Good burger. My comment to all -When grilling, try putting the oil or cooking spray on the meat instead of the grill. A hot grill will immediately flash or burn off the oil. Cooking spray works really well with chicken and if you've done much grilling it has a tendency to stick every time. js

Basic Easy Chicken Wings

Good recipe but one comment. When "lightly oiling" the grill that has been subjected to high heat only one thing happens the oil flashes off immediately. Try instead lightly spraying the chicken with Pam or your favorite brand of cooking spray. Chicken, in my experience, is the worst for sticking to a hot grill.

Grandma's Cornbread Dressing

I was very curious about this recipe and amazed when I read it. This recipe has been in the Texas side of my family for over 75 years. Some may think the amount of sage is a little too much but for us the sage makes the difference. The only slight difference was my Grandmother would also add a few crumbled slices of stale white bread. Everything else is identical. This dressing is on my menu every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

I made this soup and it was so, so. Too much tomato juice and cabbage. Also, whole peeled tomatoes? Diced would work better in my opinion.
