I made this recipe to serve at a brunch for some out-of-town guests last weekend. It was a tremendous hit! Everyone thought it was a complicated recipe. I just smiled :) I did cut back on the sausage to 1lb, and cut back on the cheese as well (I used about 1 cup of cheddar/mozz/jack mixed). I also spiced it up a bit with some sage and thyme, and a bit of parsley for color. It was delicious! My only caveat is - don't put it on the bottom rack -- the rolls turned very dark brown. (Still edible, but not pretty.)
I was a bit hesitant to try this for company, but I did...came out great! I did cut back on liquid ingredients by about 1/3rd. Based on all of the previous ratings, I allowed the bread to soak up the batter for about 15 minutes, then I poured off the excess the night before, rather than waiting until just prior to baking. The bread was custardy on the bottom, and crispy on top -- delicious! Because we all have sweet teeth around here, I kept the syrup recipe in tact, and threw in a few handfuls of pecans...the general reaction from the table was YUMMMMMM... This one is a definite keeper!
I found this soup to be "OK", but my husband (who's homebrew we used in the recipe) loved it. My two little boys ate it with some coaxing (there's the cauliflower factor, after all), but weren't especially fond of it. I used real cheese, and spiced it up a bit more than the recipe called for. I'll probably try it again with regular beer (Bud, or the like), which would be less bitter than the homebrewed IPA we used.
I made these for the kids for Easter. (Turned them into "birds nests" by topping them with toasted coconut and jelly bean "eggs"). The are VERY easy to make, however, the rice crispies turn very chewy inside, and remain in your mouth long after the rest of the cookie. I may try them again, without crispies, or with a different type of cereal. Great taste!
At 11pm, realized that I had forgotten to make the cookies I had promised for a co-worker's birthday celebration in the morning. Found this recipe, and, like others have said...it is VERY quick! Didn't have white cake or chocolate chips, so I did the reverse -- chocolate cake with white chips. Used white chocolate pudding instead of butterscotch, and added 1/3 cup of coconut, in addition to the oatmeal. They're great if you like a VERY sweet cookie. My kids love them! They were fairly greasy. Next time, I'll try using 1/4 cup of oil.
This roast was great, and the gravy was a delicious bonus! My roast was only 2.3 lbs, so I cut cooking time to 5 hours on low -- came out perfectly. Serve with mashed potatoes if you want to make the most of the gravy!
My family (especially my 4-year-old) LOVED this! Definitely a comfort food. My finicky mother even asked for seconds. Served with white rice to take advantage of the delicious gravy. Used "Grands - flaky" biscuit dough for the dumplings -- they came out great. A definite crockpot keeper!
Just finished dinner, with this recipe served over jasmine rice -- we loved it! My husband, and four- and two-year-old sons both devoured it. I used 2tsp of cornstarch in place of the flour, and half the amount of scallions. I didn't have OJ concentrate, so I subsituted 1/2 the water with regular orange juice. Made a wonderful sauce that was perfect atop white rice. I recommend adding the mandarins just prior to serving -- I cooked them too long, and they disintegrated. No added salt is needed, as the bullion cubes provide more than enough. This recipe would work really well with beef or shrimp, as well. A definite keeper!
Made these for my boys this afternoon - ages 2 and 4. While they liked them, I found them to be mediocre, at best. The dough was more like a runny batter, so the cookies came out very flat. Refrigerating the batter helped the second batch rise a bit better. I added chocolate chips, which the kids loved. Nice banana flavor. Texture is more like a pancake than a cookie. They get mushy when you store them. I think I'll try another recipe next time...
Needed a quick fix for three pork chops, so I used this marinade for only an hour. I planned to grill the chops, but ran out of propane before the grill was even warm. Came back inside and cooked them on medium heat in a LeCreuset cast iron grill pan, coated with a bit of vegetable oil. Even with only an hour in the marinade, they were GREAT! A definite keeper!
Why didn't I think of this one before?? I got carrots, corn, and peas into my kids with nary a whimper or whine, plus some calcium and protein with the cheese. All I had to say was 'COWBOY' to my two little boys, and they ate two helpings! (The big boy had 3..) Delicious! This one will be making an appearance on our table OFTEN!
All I can say is -- FIFTY FOUR GRAMS OF FAT??? Made this (and ate this) before looking at the nutritional information. It was very tasty, however, if I'm going to eat 900 calories and 54 grams of fat in one sitting again, it sure as heck won't be from stew! Yikes!
