These cookies were loved by my family. I didn't use the cream of tartar and instead of confectioners sugar, I doubled the white sugar. It felt oily before baking but turned out great. My son had fun with the cookie cutters and my kids and husband ate half the cookies within the first hour.
I followed this exactly and it came out great. It held its shape as I piped onto cupcakes.
I followed this recipe exactly, except the sugar and I doubled everything to make a large enough amount for my family. I actually used 1 1/2 cups of sugar (when everything else was doubled). It was absolutely great. Reminded me of the banana pudding my grandmother used to make.
This is a good basic recipe. The only thing I would add in the directions is PLEASE WEAR GLOVES! Look up" jalapeño hands" and you will see the importance. At first, it doesn't burn, but after two hours, I felt horrible burning. An hour later, I was in tears, trying everything I could find on the internet. It was a horrible experience.
