I made them creamier by adding milk and reheating then on the stove top instead of baking them, Yum!!
I made lots of changes to this one as I was baking the almonds. I added vanilla, salt, extra brown and white sugar plus more cinammon. I had to turned on the broiler on low and watched them carefully to glaze the sugar as I had to keep adding sugar. At the end of the cooking time these were still wet and had sugar on top due to my actions above, but the broiler did the trick in drying and glazing the sugar and made them even crunchier. The extra sugar gave these that "bumpy" look of the one I found at the fair, instead of the shiny, not so tasty look I was getting by following the recipe. The almonds came out really good and very, very close to the bought ones, if not better. The kids loved them,.. well ok me too :) The recipe gives the right idea but the ingredients are a little off so I will give this recipe a 3.
Yum!!! We really like this type dish and it went fast with no leftovers. I changed the recipe by combining it with the P.F. Changs recipe ingredients. I prefer the cooking method of Minhueys recipe though, as it doesn't require to deep fry the eggplant, which makes it a healthier dish.I used 2 Tablespoons of soy sauce instead of 4, 1 tablespoon sugar instead of a teaspoon, 2 to 3 cloves of garlic instead of 1 clove and I added to the sauce 1 tablespoon white vinegar 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil. No black pepper. and added the rest of the infredients to the sauce. Also I substituted the beef and shrimp for boneless ground chicken breast which I ground on the food processor. Then I follow the rest of Minhuey's recipe cooking steps. This was gooooood!!!!
This was really good. I followed the recipe as close as possible but I cut down the work by not marinating the chicken as it gets flavored from the sauce anyway. I also shredded the chicken in the food processor by slowly pulsing until it was all shredded. I added canned green chiles and also added about 1/4 or so of sour cream to the chicken mixture. I didn't soak the tortillas and it worked out fine for me. Tasted like the ones at restaurants. Thanks for the recipe!!
Not been a salmon fan, I have to say this was really good. I made it yesterday for my significant other who loves salmon and he thought it was really good. The kids ate it with no complains. Even my 4 year old ate it without saying yuck ( and she usually does) I agree with the others, next time I will double the sauce recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Really Good chili. I made a few adjustments to make it low fat. I omitted the sausage and the Fritos. This chili was a little spicy for my taste and I only put a small can of mild green chiles (omitted the two fresh ones) and only used about Tablespoon and half of the Chile powder.
What a waste of eggs and butter!!!! I have never been so frustated with a recipe. Update: You might need a cast iron saucepan to make this recipe. The handles of my saucepan smelled like these were going to start melting, I then tried a glass baking dish and it exploded in the oven!!!!
YUMMY! This is a 5 star recipe for sure. I changed it a bit (not that it needed it, but I like to experiment and add my own touches) by substituting half of the lemon lime soda for Squirt citrus soda. I also added a tiny bit of liquid smoke. For the vegetables I used the ones in the recipe but added green zuchini and yellow zuchini. I got green, red and yellow bell peppers instead of just green. These were beautiful !! The tip of softening the peppers a bit prior to grilling worked like a charm. I did this only to the peppers and zuchini. This is the first time ever my boyfriend asked me to PLEASE make something again from all the recipes I have made from this site. Kids loved it too. Update: I was excited to make this one again. This time I followed the recipe to the letter . This time NO ONE liked it :( including me. The first time I did changes and also didn't marinated it overnight. It was flavorful and tender. Not sure what happened this time. Maybe it was the sirloin cut, or the overnight marinating made the sirloin tough, but i always tought marinade tenderizes. I was not as flavorful as before.
Made this for breakfast this morning and everyone had seconds. It was soooo good. Came out perfectly browned, flavorful and the texture couldn't be more perfect. Maybe is the altitude or something. After reading some reviews, I thought it was going to be mushy but I actuallly added about 1/8 cup more of milk as I wanted every slice to be covered. I followed the recipe exactly except I used only 1/4 cup of butter. I can't understand how some people might find this recipe bland!! This is a keeper and will be my favorite way of making fresh toast. It was so easy to put it together the night before and just pop it in the oven for 45 minutes. No stress!
This dissappear fast with no leftovers and everyone had seconds. I do agree with others though; this recipe would be really bland if no other condiments are added. I added garlic and tiny bit of oregano and liquid smoke. The gravy tasted really good, however I didn't feed it to my family as the fat content was to great. The meat gets leaner when cooked this way and it shredded so easily, it just fell apart. I started cooking a 4 pounds roast around 2:30 p.m so I wrapped the roast on aluminum foil and put it in the oven for about 1.5 hours, I had the slow cooker already going with the broth and after the 1.5 hours I dumped the roast in the crock pot,put over the coffee and cooked it for another 3 hours and 15 minutes in high most of the time. A little barbecue sauce and dinner was served! So easy even when I was late to cook this. My daughter doesn't like bbq sauce so she prepared her sandwich as a Cuban sandwich with the plain pork, pickles, mustard, and swiss cheese. She claimed this cooking method was by far the best for the sandwich. I disagree but I do agree this is a great recipe. Thanks for sharing!
I put a little bit more onion (about a teaspoon more) but that is all I changed. Followed the recipe otherwise. Came out perfect! My boyfriend loved it.
Lots of leftovers, Sorry but this recipe was too bland. We ate it but we basically have to force ourselves to eat it as there was nothing else prepared for dinner. Even garlic didn't save this one. Will not try again. Even the thought of eaten this again upsets my stomach, sorry
