too bitter for me - won't make it again
This recipe is so easy - one bowl and stir ingredients in order listed. After adding the mix to loaf pan I added a sliced banana to the top of the batter and sprinkled cinnamon sugar liberally over it. I did mash, not slice, the two bananas in the batter. This bread is so moist and tender. What a treat for so little effort.
Labor intensive but then so is the flavor - intense and full of depth so it is worth the time if you can do it, go for it. I made my own version of chicken rice soup with it and it was a big hit. Love Chef John's recipes and his videos always make me smile. He has a good sense of humor.
really informative - thank you
Fantastic flavor! I used 2" boneless pork - did not split in half. I did not have mesquite seasoning so I used smoked paprika. Used Dijon mustard b/c it is what I had and, due to a review, I cut the thyme by half. I marinated in bag for 5 hrs and grilled in oven for time recommended according to size of pork. It was tasty and very tender and very juicy. This recipe is a definite keeper. I will absolutely make this again and again!!
Greasy and cloyingly sweet. Seems to have an identity issue, doesn't know if it is savory or sweet. If you want a sandwich make a ham and cheese sandwich if you want dessert make a pie, but don't make this. Just doesn't work.
