Great Lakes Pretzel Chicken

Inspired by a meal I ate at the Great Lakes Brewery back in 1999! Tastes great with mustard sauce (see my recipe listed.) Simple and delicious.

Kottbullar (Swedish Meatballs)

I'm 1/8 Swede (the biggest chunk of my mutt heritage) so I guess it was about time I made this recipe. I never knew my Swedish great-grandmother, but apparently this was a much-requested specialty of hers when she worked as a housekeeper in Chicago back in the 30's and 40's. Serve with mashed potatoes, red cabbage sweet and sour slaw, pickles or cucumbers, quintessential lingonberry jam, and fresh seasonal berries for dessert.

Addictive East meets West chili.

Best chili ever, and addictive. After living in Cincinnati (and trying Greek-style Skyline "chili"), I picked up some traditional spice road additions to make my mom's original recipe even better. Whenever I make this, I get lots of requests to share my secret ingredients. Well it's no secret! You can make it in a rush in about an hour, or let it simmer in a crock pot all afternoon for true deliciousness. Serve with cornbread or corn pudding and shredded cheddar cheese.

Oatmeal No-Bakes

You've eaten them at every potluck. Here's my recipe!

Corn Pudding

A deliciously moist bread, similar to cornbread but much more rich (and fattening.) Great with chili or a side-dish at Thanksgiving or Christmas, or with any Tex-Mex meat that you need to serve with a corn-filled starch.

Devils on Horseback

Rating: 4.5 stars 49
A family favorite my uncle makes. Could be considered a cross between Rumaki, Angels on Horseback, and Devils on Horseback. They are a wonderful balance between salty and sweet, with a combination of crispy, chewy, and crunchy textures. My family destroys a tray of these in fifteen minutes.

Oven-roasted Asparagus

Rating: 5 stars 3235
Salty and savory, the roasting method kills the natural bitterness of asparagus. Try it next to grilled fish or lamb.

Mustard Sauce

A delicious and savory sauce to eat on chicken, pork roast, ham, or roast beef.
