Penne a la vodka is our favorite dish. This is the best version I have tried to make. I did not use any sausage but instead added sliced chicken breast and jumbo shrimp. As reccommended I at least doubled the amount of vodka and also added another Tbsp or so of cream. I topped it with fresh parmesan cheese. Next time we will add prosciutto
Some of us love mushrooms but everyone typically despises greenbean casserole because it's bland mushyness...this was completely different. On Thanksgiving all I eat are mashed potatoes and now this. Everyone loves it and we make it for Christmas dinner and sometimes Easter now too. It's really excellent and I don't change anything except I use extra fried onions on top!
This dish is a unique twist on spinach lasagna but the lack of ricotta and addition of artichoke turned out nicely. I used whole wheat cooked noodles, 3/4 C of broth, 1 jar of 3 cheese tomato sauce, 1/2 jar of vegetable tomato sauce, and a couple backs of the italian mixed shredded cheese. It wasn't too watery or anything like I read in the other reviews and turned out perfectly, the extra little sauce was good.
My boyfriend is a big seafood fan and really enjoyed this. We made it using left over king crab and didn't add any shrimp - the other reviews said both were too much. I added a little paprika for color and a little extra flour to thicken it more (as my boyfriend requested) but he decided it would be better the original way.
Vodka sauce is our favorite thing! We used bowtie pasta and I added a few things that made a big difference...I melted the butter and added the onion plus to cloves of garlic finely chopped. I diced two medium tomatoes and added that along with the 1 can of diced tomato for extra flavor, pan fried some prosciutto and diced that as well. We added chicken and shrimp to it as well so I made a little extra sauce by adding some extra cream and vodka to the already larger portion of tomatoes. I did not add the red pepper flakes - I don't like spice. Our sauce tasted like an authentic italian vodka sauce, very rich and wonderful. I'll only use this recipe now.
Lamb is my favorite food and this recipe is good because it is cooked in the oven - not outdoors on a grille (which was actually great during winter) - and it stays moist. I left out the bread crumbs and dijon mustard. Those are items I like but I am a lamb purest, it really didn't need these additional flavors. Just some mint jelly. I coated it in olive oil and sprinkled a little garlic, rosemary, salt, and pepper on the rack. I tried wrapped the bones in tin foil one time and another time I did not - the results were the same. I broiled each side of the rack for several minutes. I like my meat medium well and 12-15 minutes accomplished that at 450. Meat from Costco.
This is a very rich cheesecake!! It is creamier and thicker than say Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes and smoother and moister than traditional NY style cheesecake. I followed the advice of another reviewer and double the chocolate cookie's used for the crust. I used actual chocolate wafers and would definitely NOT reccomend using Oreos, they cannot give the same effect. I also followed someone else's advice and used seedless raspberry jam. I heated it in the microwave so it was like syrup and used almost a jar - I really like fruit with cheesecake and that amount was not overpowering. I also used fresh raspberries on top and whip cream. This dish was excellent but too rich to make regularly. Also, I read other reviews in which people said that the white chocolate was overwhelming...I couldn't really taste it. Just a rich cheesy cake.
My family begs for this every holiday! I use craisins instead of cherries and it's so good we would never try cherries. Make sure you brush some egg along the seam or it may leak a bit - but it still takes great!!!
Better than box strawberry cakes but somehow lacking. It was very rich and very thick and very large - over powering. I would have preferred this cake to be light and fluffy with a fresh strawberry taste. Not so. I was actually disappointed because my husband is obsessed with strawberry cake but only had it from a box so I thought I'd surprise him with the real deal and of course he appreciated the gesture but hardly ate it.
A HUGE hit with my family. We make a special type of birthday cake for every birthday but this year my mom is requesting this one! and we just had it 2 weeks ago! the best carrot cake ever - i left out the raisins and it was still a hit. We used a cream cheese frosting home made.
We really love po' boys and this was an excellent recipe. We followed all of the directions but I used garlic paste and horseradish sauce instead of actual horserashish or chopped garlic since that is all I had but it seemed the right consistancy and tasted awesome anyway. the shrimp was good too, it needs the creole seasoning
I combined this recipe and the "Tomato Vodka Sauce" recipe and it was as good as the sauce at my favorite little Italian place. Seperately, both of these recipes are OKAY but missing something. Comibing them did the trick. I made my own sauce with a 28oz can of chunky crushed tomatoes and a smaller can of diced tomatoes. I added chicken (2 breasts) and cooked it in 2TBSP of butter with 1T olive oil, one small onion diced, and 1 garlic clove finely chopped until the chicken was brown on the outisde and the pancetta was browning. I added the Vodka (1/2C) and after a few minutes the tomato products and whipping cream. I used more than 1/2C because I used more ingredients and wanted more sauce. I simmered it and topped it with Parm to serve.
