Well I am an American chick living in New Zealand! I met the man of my dreams and moved over to NZ. We both like cooking which is good, so neither of us have to cook everyday! I've always enjoyed baking, ever since I was a little girl. I grew up in a family of 10, and always liked baking for them...i'm pretty sure they enjoyed being on the receiving end of that deal!

It is a lot harder to get pre-made baking helpers over here in the grocery store....such as pie crusts, cookie dough, pudding etc. It's also really expensive to buy Betty Crocker boxed cake mix & frosting!

SO lately i've really been into making EVERYTHING from scratch & I love it! It's so much cheaper, heathlier and it's enjoyable as well.

I thought these were nice cookies, but not fantastic.. I think i'd rather use the Nestle tollhouse recipe rather than this one. But then again I am in New Zealand, using their ovens & baking products so i think that might make a difference..

Cream Puffs

I tweaked the recipe for the filling, so it was more of an "Eclair" & topped it off with some melted chocolate. Delicious! I entered the recipe into a competition & won a weekly prize, it was great!! The only thing i would keep in mind is that the dough is a bit bland, I might add some vanilla to it next time.

This recipe is EXCELLENT!!!! Everyone raaavvvveeed about it. I even ended up packaging some up for people to take home because they liked it so much. Definitely a keeper!! The second time I made it, I added some veggies to it (Bell Pepper mainly) & it was delicious & nutritious!

Michelle's Peanut Butter Marbled Brownies

I thought this was yummy, but not what I was expecting from the reviews:( I thought the cream cheese/peanut butter texture didn't go well with the brownie at all. But the taste was nice. .......I followed the recipe exactly besides adding a bit more peanut butter.

Homemade Flour Tortillas

These were great, and it gave me such pleasure to actually make tortillas myself!! I would tweak this just a lil next time though, due to lack of flavor - also, the tortillas need either something lightly brushed onto them before cooking or the flour brushed off of them afterwards because it wasn't nice eating a taco that had excess flour on the outside....eee. All in all - great. Thanks so much!!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Sorry, these didn't work out for me. They tasted really good, but they didn't hold their form for me. They just fell apart. I was going to give these 3 stars, but I can't justify that because I had to make modifications due to living in New Zealand!! I had to use a "vanilla dessert mix" instead of pudding because they don't sell it here. I might try it again when i'm back in the USA.

Tropical Coffee Cake

I received many compliments for this cake, even though I didn't think it turned out that great. Personally I probably won't make this again, but I had someone ask for the recipe so she can have a crack at it! I had to re-cook this because even though my toothpick was coming out clean, the cake was way too under done. I think this has to do with the combo of sour cream and oil. Oh, and I used fresh pineapple and didn't notice the flavor too much, I think canned pineapple would be better.

Excellent Apple Pudding, and very easy to put together! I added vanilla essence because I love the stuff, but I followed the recipe besides that and it was great. Thanks Laurie Nanni!!!

Donut Muffins

I made this for Recipe Group, my first one:) I thought these were really nice, but not exactly what I was expecting. I think in order to taste more like the doughnut holes they need to be "cakier" if that makes sense. And I did make a second batch splitting the nutmeg in half and adding cinnamon for the other half, this was better for me and the hubs pallet. So overall, I think this was a great idea and they taste nice, but the Nutmeg is a bit overpowering and the texture could be more dense. Thanks Dianne for this quick yummy recipe!!! ATTN: UPDATE!! ok, if you don't like these right away you HAVE to try them again the next day. the texture was better and the nutmeg wasn't as strong, i think because the flavors were able to "mingle".

Penny's Blue Ribbon Coconut Macaroons

These Macaroons were nice. I dipped the bottom in dark chocolate which was a nice touch! Although the macaroons themselves didn't have much flavor, I won't be making these again. They def need more sugar and perhaps more salt. But I do have to say that they were very very easy to make!!

very very good rice!! only thing was that my rice started sticking to the bottom of the pan,and finished after about 15 minutes of simmering. possibly because I have a gas stove? not sure, but the result was delicious anyway. Thank you!!!
