Braided Easter Egg Bread

This is a great bread to make for an Easter brunch, or just for fun. I proofed the yeast before adding it to the flour, sugar and salt. To proof, dissolve a package of Active Dry Yeast in a 1/4c of warm water (about 100 degrees F) and a 1/4 tsp of sugar. The yeast should double in volume. I also deducted 1/4c of milk from this recipe. The mixture was sticky while I was kneading the bread, and I added flour as I kneaded. I got a lot of compliments for this bread.

Everyone loves these. I definitely would make these again. The recipe was pretty simple. I didn't have nutmeg on hand, so I substituted Ginger which made them spicy and I used milk instead of water. I made little muffins so that people would not feel bad for reaching for another one.

I prepare these the night before in the oven. I warm them in the oven before putting them on the grill for the barbecue. I used Scott Hibb's Amazing Whiskey Grilled Baby Back ribs recipe for the barbecue sauce while heating over the grill. They are amazing. The meat falls off the bone.

I did not care for this recipe. It was bland and chewy.
