Wow. I never thought that making bagels would be so easy. I like a more fiber in my diet so I modified the recipe by using 1.5 cups whole wheat flour and 1.5 cups bread flour. Result, fantastic wheat bagels.
I did not have any dates, so I made it without them, still a great taste.
Another great recipe using flax. I am always looking for good recipies that incorporate this fine source EFA's. Flax adds a unique texture to this recipie that holds moistness and combines with the pumpkin for a great taste. I added whole flax seed to the mixture for a more crunchy nutty flavor.
Great bran muffin recipe, easy to tell when see and bite into them that they are healthy for you. Another great use of flax, gotta get those EFAs.
Bread machine recipes never work out the first time due to varying factors. The first time I tried this recipe the dough was too weak and the bread fell. After adjusting water, yeast, and gluten, it came out perfect. My adjustments: 1 cup water 2 tsp yeast 1 tbsp gluten 1 tbsp whole flax seed Bake on whole wheat cycle
I got different results. It seemed when the both sides of the pancake were cooked, nice brown finishes, when I cut into the pancake with a fork, the inside was still gooey. I tried cooking the next batch longer, but that just melted the chocolate chips making a real mess on the griddle. I do not know what I did wrong, but I do not have the patience to try this one again.
What a great and simple recipe. The key to a great crust, keep the water ice cold and roll out the dough a few times. I did this a got a perfect crust and lattice top for my first apple pie. I loved it.
