I've made this a couple of times now, and it is absolutely wonderful! The only thing I changed was I wrapped the brie in puff pastry to make a brie en croute, and I think I used chopped walnuts instead of the almonds. Delicious!
I've used this recipe many, many times now, and the glaze is AWESOME. I like to put mine on the George Foreman-esque griddle to caramelize the sugar a bit. Everyone I've made them for has absolutely loved them.
This is one of the worst dishes I have ever made. The Italian dressing flavors were just strange alongside the mushrooms. It was EXTREMELY salty. I have no idea why a soup with a base of beef stock was used in a chicken dish. The sauce was also way too thick to pair with angel hair pasta. In more than a year of regular cooking, this is the first time my boyfriend has given me negative feedback on a dish.
This recipe is WONDERFUL as written, but I make some changes to save time and effort. I use frozen fish sticks (I know, I know) and use shredded coleslaw mix, cilantro, cumin, and pre-made chipotle mayonnaise for the slaw. Top them with sliced avocado. Quick and delicious--done in about 20 minutes, or however long it takes your fish to cook, and far fewer dishes to wash at the end.
